My centrifuge came today :D . I went to the pull it yard to find a power steering pump without a reservoir. I found some that looked perfect, attached to some mid 80's - 90's (?) Honda's. They do not have a reservoir and have easy mounting tabs. My question is : How do you determine whether or not the pumps are shot? Should there be resistance when you spin it? I sound 3-4 pumps and they all spun very easily. I just don't want to waste money on a shot pump ..

Thanks guys.

A quick answer, bring some amount of power steering fluid, or atf, or some light, easily found oil, and put a little bit into the inlet side of the pump and rotate it, and it should come out of the discharge side, and once it brings in air, it should pump the air through as long as there is some oil left in the pump internals (as they are not self priming)

General rule of thumb, if it can move fluid, albeit slowly, it should work just fine.
