try to rev it up a little while its sitting there under hoood..see if that causes some fuel to come out. how old are caps and return lines? its gotta be something at injector.. new pump same problem eliminates that.. at idle these motors dont use alot of fuel..which is probably why you arent seeing anything at idle.

caps and returns are a month old, still have one stubborn devil that seeps, but am almost certain this is not my valley pan washer.

Alright im an idiot, did the cardboard test under IP, and once again the baby powder, sat under hood for my entire lunch hour. No drips or runs, nuthin. Idled it up, and still nothin. Drove forward in 3rd gear in driveway, to try and create a load. Went about 50 yards total, and then backed back in where i started. Then got out and checked cardboard, and it was saturated??? So finally got back to work, and had a co-worker drive the truck, while I was under the hood, and I finally figured out the leak. YAY!!!!
Now feel free to give me all the crap I deserve after reading this next part. There is not a leak what so ever from IP, or hard lines. Apparently there was some risidual diesel in the back of valley pan from doing the swap, which I knew about, just didnt realize the actual quantity! When I was under the hood the fuel was sloshing forward when the truck stopped which is whats saturating the cardboard/babypowder. DUH!! Anyhow I washed the valley pan with pressure washer, used compressed air to dry it completely, then went for ride under hood again, and it stayed dry. Finally, now I gotta get that one leaky injector stopped, and hopefully be leak free,(from fuel anyway)

OK, now why isn't it draining? That 3/8" drive do hicky that holds the valley pan down *should* be hollow to let stuff drain out if memory serves me ( don't count on that , can't get any blamed service out of it anymore :rotflmao

Yup, and if the valley pan fills up enough, it might leak in past the valley pan grommit inside the engine. That might be how fuel got inside the engine perhaps?

grommet not leaking, I rtved the heck out of that some time ago when I installed ATS. It was boosting oil up through vp grommet, untill I RTVed. Pretty sure IP was leaking into crankcase, checked oil today and It actually smelled like oil again. It was leaking about a quart every tank full into oil, just as mel had suggested in a prior post. IP can leak into crankcase if pilot seal shaft seals are bad, or the pilot shaft bushing is bad.

I can confirm that it is indeed possible for an IP to dump fuel into the crankcase. I had it happen with an economy rebuild a few years ago.

You need to replace the lift pump. It's leaking past the diaphragm into the crankcase.

If all things are right, the IP cannot leak into the crankcase. IE: valley pan grommet and IP drain are functioning properly. Which it seems Yours is Not.

Also, did You punch holes in the VP diaphram when You installed the turbo return?

At the rear of the valley pan , there is a fitting that holds the rear of the valley pan down. It has a hollow cutout in it to accept a 3/8" drive extension to tighten it down and it also serves dual purpose as a drain for fuel that finds itself in the pan after bleeding the fuel filter etc. It channels the fuel down along the rear of the engine in front of the bellhousing adapter plate

I think We can eliminate that problem, seeing as You've got a new IP?

It can happen, but it's a VERY rare occurrence.

Yes your valley pan drain plug is definitely more of a plug than a drain. You need to rod it out. Stick a wire or something down in there and get it to flush. You'll see it easy enough if you get behind the intake and look as far back on the valley pan as you can. All you've probably done at this point is swap fuel for water, unless you shop vac'ed it dry.

Mel... There might be an ATS turbo in the way.... I hope there isn't lots of RTV plugging up the drain hole in the valley pan hold down/drain plug...
