Bought this firewood from a friend and we used a log loader to load the truck. I crossed the scales weighing in at 10,100#:D and pulled the hills at 60-65 passing everything in the slow lane.;Sweet

Now THAT'S what I call a fine GOOD work truck! And not too much squat either. What kind of suspension, or suspension support do you have underneath that thing?

Long story short, I bet that was a nice run!

You guys can afford a 4x4? Actually I've "HEARD" that a nice Ironwood fence post does wonders, even a pretty cedar post. But that's just what I've "HEARD"...

STOCK suspension. It has the stock 5 leaf pack (thick bottom, and 4 leafs on top). No air bags, no 4x4, or any helper springs at all. It squatted the truck about 1" and that was it. Unloaded weight of the truck is around 7,400#, so that means I had 2,700# of wood in the bed. I will take pics of the rear suspension tomorrow to show you that there is no aftermarket additions to the springs or axles.

I believe you, I was just stating that I have "heard" of those other methods for overloading a truck.

Unfortunately my 86 250 squats a bit with the 32' goose neck attached and 14-16 round bales and skid steer. Depends on how I feel like loading that day, and how well the drive back onto the road is.

The truck road "smooth" with that much weight on the rear.:D We used a log loader to load the truck.LOL I had to unload it by hand:eek: and that sucked. I'll be cutting it and splitting it all up tomorrow after work. I wasn't saying that you didn't believe me, I was just offering pics of my springs to see if there was something different about them.:dunno

Hey, I'd LOVE to still see pictures of your suspension! To me it would be great information and a comparison to what I have and want to put on board my hauler. My 86 is only a 2wheel drive and an extended cab (of which part I love for hauling the little guy and tools out and about) so I'm sure that makes a difference with mine. I've been considering a swap to 4x4 since I have a straight D60 on a donor truck at home, but am just not sure since I have the 6.2 4x4 and it's quite the beast. Plus with the right tires and driving habits, 2wheel drive will get you around just fine - for the most part. And in a lot of cases 4 wheel drive just gets you stuck deeper.

No offense here either. The little one has me up most nights, and the days I've been busy with the cold repairing pipes in the barn and a few tractor/equipment issues outside.

I still wouldn't mind seeing pictures of the setup though. And do you have that leveling/proportionate brake valve back there as I do? Just curious on that last one.

And thank goodness for synthetic oils! It's supposed to be a high of -4 here today. The diesel tractors have been grumbling, the gasoline ones popping, but so far everything has been starting. The internationals start fine, just loudly. Of course!

It doesn't have that valve. My '86 F250 had it, but not this '85 F350.:dunno I will try to get those pics today. I've been leaving for work in the dark and getting home just before dark lately.

No worries about the pictures, I know what busy is. As for the valve, I was just curious since so far I haven't any problems and was wondering how well they performed because if I was just lucky so far - I'd do something about it before I was hooked to a gooseneck with a huge load and found myself stuck.

Suspension Pics

Nice load of wood BB.;Sweet Here are the pics of my rear suspension. Sorry that they're not the best, but it was dark when I took them. Also added a pic of SOME of the wood cut and split now. Spent two and a half hours working on it tonight.:frustrate
