Howdy folks,
Looks like a wealth of info here. I'm Joe from WA state and happend upon an 86' crewcab factory hiboy.
The seller said he bought it new in 86' and had 71,000 original miles on it. While I thought he was full of BS I couldn't help but notice how good of shape it was in. To my suprise I found several indications he was telling the truth. Pedals seamed new as did the floor where a heal hole should be. The shifter boots, door panels and roof were immaculate. EVERYTHING works. The cigarette lighter had never been used. The diesel only fuel labels are still wraped around both filler caps. Upon removal of the canopy I discovered the bed bolts were spotless and free of rust. And of course it runs great! While its not without a couple bumps bruises and a couple after market parts. I think I scored a gem. I even found a used turbo online for $100 which appears to be complete and in good shape. I hope to be picking some brains soon!

Nice truck. Can't help but notice no A/C. Might not be bad where you are, but here that would be a deal breaker. Are those dually front wheels with spacers all around?

64,000 miles (verified through registration/insurance statements) and it was stored indoors for decades. The rubber is still soft
and supple, the paint is good and the part that I was going to change (C6 switched to Overdrive transmission,) was blown.
Which was GOOD because that was a HUGE bargaining chip for me.

Enjoy your rig, that is unbelievably CLEAN, good find!

Best regards,
George

Welcome to the forum. You will find this forum to be truthful to a fault. Please do not buy parts for the engine before you read the Hall of Shame forum. Those sellers got in that forum by ripping off some members here. They were placed there because they deserved it. This forum knows where the best parts can be found. Generally speaking buying fuel parts from an ebay seller is going to get you less that quality parts. Ask before you spend money so its not wasted. You have a nice looking rig too.

Welcome to the forum...I'm new as well. Had no idea a month ago that a 30 year old truck would capture my attention the way it has.

Nice find on the truck.

Thanks guys. I did download the banks install guide, but won't get installed until I hunt down the gauges I need( needs a tach also). The seller had a mobile mechanic come out and go through it for him, which resulted in a new waterpump, a relay and a good service. The seller only used it for his camper so its been in his shop most its life. I'm not sure the story behind the wheels but it does need tires, they are pretty cracked. The seat was put in by his son becuase it had a handicap seat for his disabled wife. I'm going back to see him soon to retrieve the original sales receipt and all other receipt's and records over the years. I know its not a real hiboy but its factory.

Are those 19.5 wheels?? Just look tall. I have a factory tach dash for a bull nose I might be willing to part with.

They are 16" alcoa's. Supposedly the rear hub is setup to swap those wheels into a dually, whatever that means. I actually like the wheels although I think it will be getting my old school mags anyway. Would your factory tach be plug n play or is there some additional needs?

86 is already wired for it. Install dash, install mag pickup and find the plug on the fender well somewhere.
