Motor oil pain plug repair

1100 degrees is not the temperature in the oil pan...
And the engine will not "blow up" (as in block pieces flying everywhere like a Bruce Willis movie) - but I have seen pics of valley pans that are convex instead of concave from just such a repair attempt... That would be a bunch of frustrating unnecessary work to change.

There should be like a washer that reenforces the pan in the oil plug area. It is thin but can catch a few threads. Have to be careful with a tap, I believe the oil pickup screen is just above drain. Can shine a light or use something soft to check for clearance.

Or something like this. Clean really well, epoxy and double wrench when you change oil.

you might want to try wrapping it with Teflon tape....that has worked for me in the past....
