Welcome back. Again I know what 3.31 and a C6 is like to tow with. Our final drive ratio is still much larger than Gary's (Icanfixall) or even stock overdrive trucks. (3.31 with the C6 'slip' in third gear is exactly the same final ratio as a 3.55 truck with e40d locked in 3rd, or a clutch.) The difference is first gear for us is a bit tall for getting off the line quickly (and cool temps).
Hopefully the group can fill in the blanks. Assuming you'd like quite a bit more power, isn't the C6 gonna be the limiter in the equation? I ask because when it comes time for a hill, my NA IDI that has a ZF5 looses much less speed than my 88 C6. The ZF5 truck just seems to harness all the engine power, while the C6 seems to slip a bit more, loose speed. The C6 is a great tranny, but I've never felt like they were really meant to handle more than maybe a mildly turbo'd IDI.
How about a 'Typ4' factory Turbo, Typ4 injectors, an IP from Mel, and head studs. Without a clutch or a locking converter, I think that's the limit (not a bad limit, still would be night/day from N/A). I'd like some opinions from the group on this theory.

although it started to struggle a little the day I hooked it up to a 26,000# trailer by accident.
