Kinda what im thinking go around 19:1 compression studded everywere, a turbo upgrade thats good for 25-30psi of boost, and enough fuel to turn the sky dark, i know mine turns the sky dark at most boost ranges it clears up slightly when passing 20psi but not much:sly

what kind of egts did you see past 20 with the turbo pump?

I never had the pyro hooked up with the turbo pump, it never ran long enough:dunno i blew the gasket too quickLOL]

But with the old pump bottomed out i could see 1200 if i lugged it really bad comming across the mountain, but on flat ground passing 20psi i never saw over 1050 running for miles ******* the boost running over 80mph it might touch 1100

A built AOD can take 700HP, that I have read anyway. I do know the gearset in an AOD is a monster compared to a C6.

I know of an AOD in a Mustang at 3250 lbs going in the 5.8x's in the 1/8th mile. Thats about 850-900 rwhp. AOD's are a little tougher than they are given credit for.

Bet it has a 4R70W 1st gear. HP is just a number though. When used for daily driving, the abuse of the TQ will be its death if you do not have a good converter and cooler.

Yes, however if i keep it cool it will be ok. The stock 6.9 is what, 275 ft lbs and 160 hp? I think a moderately built AOD will be plenty.

I believe the AOD has a 2.74:1 first gear, A4OD has a 2.45:1 first gear, that deeper first would reduce the amount of torque needed to get the vehicle moving, thus in theory reducing heat, of course this assumes you aren't driving it like an 18 year old or pulling a forty foot fiver

AOD will hold it just fine in the first 3 gears, but overdrive will not hold 400ftlbs the drum is too weak even with 8 clutches.
The only way the AOD will hold the power is using a valve body like the Lentech Strip Terminator $750
Using the OEM valve body with a shift kit wont last a month.
Using the Factory input shaft wont last a week
Better do the research, cheaper to buy a DAYCO Lockup convertor For a C-6 and a gear vendors and be done with it!

I have built many C-6 and AOD and both are good units, the C-6 is alot cheaper to build and harness loads of torque.

yes i plan on using heavy duty input shaft and OD clutches. I already have a hard intermediate shaft and mechanical diode. It will be ok with the 6.9 im sure, and having some parts already, it will be cheaper than a GV

Are you using the one piece input shaft? Buying the hardened shafts that are direct OEM replacement are a total joke.
I have broken them with my 351 Windsor I have a collection of broken inputs.
If I added up the money I spent with my AOD I could of bought an ATI Glide with a GearVendors about $8000 worth.
I do have now a bullet proof AOD but SHEESH!
But no matter what you do to the overdrive drum it wont hold up to any towing :puke:
