is there a way to get 700 ft lbs from a 6.9? how much power can i stock bottom end take in a 6.9? thanks,mike

Sure you can. Moose pump, moose misters, electric fuel pump, some bigger fuel line, some head work, head studs, Typ4 cam, and an ATS turbo. Possibly low compression pistons. That should do it.

I don't think with all of the above mentioned upgrades that you will attain 700+ ft/lbs of torque (at least not at the rear wheels). I know Heath got 460 ft/lbs RW with a moose pump, moose mister, turbo, and a few other upgrades. Now I know that the turbo wasn't operating with the best efficiency due to high boost levels and heat, but I don't know how much was really left on the table. If there is a way to achieve this power level for less than the cost of a cheap cummins swap and upgrades to the cummins (around $6500) please let me know... I would love to start saving

Nothing off the shelf or modifications will give you that torque reading. Sorry to say that too. These bottom ends can handle anything you can offer them but we in this idi world are limited in what can be done with these engines... Read what I have done to my engine. I still don't know what the torque and hp is but I wiil someday. I would not feel right posting that I feel like I have 300 hp at the rear wheels either. The fact is I have never posted any thought about this till now. I have seen other rigs making 202 hp with very little done to the engine other than a turbo. We do have some very nice hp numbers done a few years ago that were posted here. I do know my rig can easily run 85 mph in double overdrive with 3.55 gears and not strain at all. I have a gear vendors and with that my final drive is 1.96... Here is a dash picture showing these figures....

Its not that the oil pressure is low, its the sensor. The gauge will only show a pressure reading if the engine has above 7psi, if less it will drop out completly. Essentially it is an on/off kind of thing. It does not give a real time reading of the oil pressure.

i would like more torque because i have 3.31 geared rearend and a c6 for good freeway travel, however with this combo there isnt much pulling power. Or how about a non electronic overdrive trans adapter? like the AOD or GM 700R4? I know theese can be built tough for a stock IDI.

You would be money ahead going with a Gear Vendors or an overdrive trans and lower (numerically higher) gears vs. trying to get anywhere near 700ft/lbs.

youd rather spend $6k+ on trying to get 700lb ft than just putting lower gears in it? a rear with 4.10s in the junkyard is like $150.. then turbo it. you're still under a grand and you'll have all the pulling power you need.

You might be able to reach 500 at the rear wheels, the problem is that the cooling system has a hard time with 400.

Oh come on now everyone...How fast/much TQ/HP do u want or to go...well....how much can you afford to spend...Money will get you a long ways..but 700 LbsFt torque hmm...not sure maybe $10-15K would do it. then what...KaBoOm after a short jaunt down the road.

Same thing with my van. It's just to say you have oil pressure, not how much.
