So my 1990 f250 7.3 idi i changed the oil yesterday and there was metal shavings on the oil drain plug. So I'm wondering if anyone has seen this or if I'm going to have to pull the motor for a rebuild.

Is this the first time you've seen any debris in the oil? How much shavings? Magnetic or not?
Is it knocking in any way? Oil pressure OK (with a real mechanical gauge)?

Enough that you could see it plain as day on the rag I've never seen anything in it before. Sounds like it may have a slight knock I haven't checked it with a real gauge but since I've seen the factory gauge keep dropping once and awhile it's gotten worse since I've found the metal. I'll get around to checking it tonight with a real gauge.
