I have a zf5 w a drain plug that has an aluminum seal ring on it. Torqued my drain plug bolt to 60Nm per the zf5 manual and it’s got a slow drip (small stain on driveway overnight). Should I try getting a copper crush washer to replace the aluminum seal ring? Or am I going to need to tap a new drain plug? Probably shouldn’t try overtorquing it right?

Thanks

Don’t overtorque it, aluminum threads break easy. I would try a copper crush washer first, if that doesn’t work then I guess you could retap it, thats a better question for someone else to answer though.

The sealing point is going to be the flat bottom of the transmission. Maybe take some light grit emrry cloth and make sure there's no burrs or cracks to it, clean it up and use a fresh crush washer

Did you try a new aluminum seal or just reuse the old one? If you haven't tried a new one start there.
