I wasn't sure that it was possible to put a truck style power steering pump in a van. Vans used a Delco style like GMs did.
Unfortunately, it seems that the PS pump mounting brackets are extremely hard to find. You may be stuck with your current set up. It could also be the reason that the wrong style pump is on there. With the other van specific parts that would have to be on there, I have a hard time seeing why they wouldn't have switched the PS pump if it was working fine.Hhmm, guess I'll have to search up some pics.
Thanks for the info. It gives me a place to start.
Yep. That's what it's called. I was wrong when I called it a "Delco" pump.Ford used a Saginaw Power Steering Pump in the IDI Vans:
They use a different mounting bracket. That's the one that's almost impossible to find. There has been talk of making new ones in the past, but I have no idea on how that turned out.
Chilly - what we're you working on? Some different setup all together?
So does that mean these make more noise?I was wondering between that or the pump used on the 6.0 but the internet says the 6.0 uses almost the same guts as the old C2 pump we're trying to replace so that seems pointless (only difference being a slightly larger eccentric on the cam ring to push more fluid).
