I wasn't sure that it was possible to put a truck style power steering pump in a van. Vans used a Delco style like GMs did.

Hhmm, guess I'll have to search up some pics.
Thanks for the info. It gives me a place to start.
Unfortunately, it seems that the PS pump mounting brackets are extremely hard to find. You may be stuck with your current set up. It could also be the reason that the wrong style pump is on there. With the other van specific parts that would have to be on there, I have a hard time seeing why they wouldn't have switched the PS pump if it was working fine.

The C2 Pump is the classic "whiny" power steering pump.......

Snicklas - well I definitely have a truck PS pump. I couldn't figure why they would make it that hard to get to in a van. It's not as if things are accessible to start w/. And it does whine.

Do they use the same mounting bracket, or am I going to have to change that as well when I get a new one?

They use a different mounting bracket. That's the one that's almost impossible to find. There has been talk of making new ones in the past, but I have no idea on how that turned out.

Any idea how far back these brackets were used? If I can get a year spread I'll start some of my junkyard friends searching.
I also see that some PS pumps are sold w/o reservoirs, are there any that can work w/ a remote reservoir?

I don't know who they are but, could a mod change the topic title to "E350 resurrection "? Then we can get rid of the ". . . 911".

I'm not up on vans very much. Hopefully a van guy will see this and be able to give you an idea on years.

It would be a lot easier if someone had the OE parts so we could get measurements to remake them. I started working on a different direction a little bit but I got sidetracked. Guess I'll have to get back to it.

If I know what years to search I'll be more than happy to be involved in a OEM parts sesrch.
Have they been using the same one as long as power steering has been in 7.3's vans?
Where's all our van guys?

Chilly - what we're you working on? Some different setup all together?

I'll go out on a limb and guess that they were also used on vans with a 6.9. I may be totaly wrong on that.

Well I've started tossing around the possibility of a type 2 Saginaw pump with a remote reservoir but I really don't know how it will turn out. It looks much smaller but from what I've read the internals are almost identical to a regular Saginaw pump. I may have to tear into a couple to check.

I was wondering between that or the pump used on the 6.0 but the internet says the 6.0 uses almost the same guts as the old C2 pump we're trying to replace so that seems pointless (only difference being a slightly larger eccentric on the cam ring to push more fluid).

I started drawing up a bracket in AutoCAD and I'll eventually get around to trying it on my truck as a prototype run to see if it's even worth trying. If that pans out good I'll start looking at making it fit correctly instead of just close enough to try. The pump I have for testing is actually the wrong direction output so I'll have to find a better fit if this test works out. It was used on lots of vehicles so there should be plenty to choose from.

So does that mean these make more noise?:)

I found this in the rat nest rear section that we used as a bit of a garage. I made sure that any part that was removed was put back there until I could see and evaluate it.
Someone working on the rig must have taken it off, . . . of course it says "do not remove" right on it. [emoji58]
What is it, or better yet, where does it go?
