The Banks sidewinder is a mistubishi turbo. They can be rebuilt but parts are not the easist to find. The factory is no help either nor is Banks. If you call japan you better have a part number because they wont tell you what the number is. They wil only sell you a part if you tell them the number... Crappy way of doing business if you ask me. I found this out 6 years ago rebuilding my spare Banks turbo... Kinda pissed me off finding this out. These are older engines and some of the turbos are not supported much anymore. All the wstegated turbos from the big three are about the same for hp gains. Banks sells the most complete turbo there is of any of the big three. All you need is a truck to install it in. There is nothing else you need to buy either if you buy Banks.

What's a good kit to loom for? Idc about placement just want accessible parts amd it to work properly

I am thinking of having a turbo added to my 1989 E350 7.3 IDI Born Free RV 4WD as well. It struggles in the Colorado mountains. Research suggests the wastegated Banks operates over a wider RPM range than the non wastegated Hypermax. Then, threads here at at The Diesel Stop talk of the poor support from Banks and the good support from Hypermax. Has anyone run a direct comparison in similar vehicles between the Banks and the Hypermax?

Current IDI Horesepower and Torque Bests... 205.35HP / 461.59Torque

These figures may be slightly dated now, but 230-240HP and 500 for torque are probably the most reasonable figures one might hope to attain with something that could still be a daily driver.

Essentially, you're looking at stock 6.0 numbers, for a lot less money and better reliability.
