Dumb question:

I have my first diesel truck and it has two batteries. Do I have to do anything special to jump it or can I just connect my ranger battery to one of the two batteries on the diesel?

There are no dumb questions here. There is a sticker on my truck that says not to jump from the drivers side battery. I guess because the passenger side is closer to the starter. However I do not think it matters when jumping other vehicles. Unless someone here tells you otherwise, I would play it safe and jump the ranger from the passenger side battery

If your trying to start the Ranger either side will do. If trying to start the Diesel then do so at the passenger's side. But be warned that if the diesel batteries are discharged below 11.5 volts, then after starting, the alternator is going to work it's ass off. That's a good way to destroy it. You really should charge the batteries. Only jump start in an emergency, and take your chances.
