Take it off , take it to a stanadyne certified pump shop. THey can hook it up to a calibration machine and see if it is putting out up to spec, but call ahead, if you arent famialiar with the folks, i.e. a regular customer, it might end up costing you. and for the amount of work involved, if you are that suspicious , and if its got much over 100k miles on it, you may just be better off spending your money searching out another pump

Do you know how much they would charge to put new seals in it?

Mine runs and works fine, just leaks.

That depends entirely on the relationship that you have with your local pump shop. I used to have my own repair shop and Ive done a lot of business with my friendly neighborhood pump shop, and they don't charge me but the price of parts to replace minor seals and the like. Most pump shops dont go overboard on that type of thing, they would rather build good customer relations and see you back for teh big stuff.

Where is your pump leaking from.. If its the advance piston on the drivers side.. Well then your pump is usually thought to be worn out.. How many miles are on the leaking pump..

Pumps are both simple and highly complex in function . . . the only way I know is to take it to a certified shop and they will hook it up to a flow bench and take a number of measurements at different rpm's/loads. Pumps need calibration when well worn as a result of worn out seals, increased wear on surfaces, etc . . . .better to just replace. Gus at Pacific Fuel Injection gave me quite a tutorial one day and showed me cutaway inline pumps and rotary. Our pumps are cheap compared to others . . . I am committed to using stanadyne performance formula now that I have read (over researched) the effects of low sulphur diesel on pump seals, injectors, etc . . . Our seals are definitely taking a beating these days.

If possible, I would just get a new one and keep yours as a spare. I have been thinking of doing the same thing myself, my IP has fuel seepage though I'm not sure from where. Truck runs good, gets decent mileage, starts good, except recently, it has run away on me once or twice, like I was idling and revved the throttle a little bit and it went to WOT for a few seconds then back to idle.......... Also I was starting out up a small hill a couple weeks ago, grabbing 2nd gear, and it almost died. Not sure if it was just extreme clutch slippage or a fuel issue. A few thousand miles on new tank, new lines, full tank, newer filters, took a glance at things mechanically looked ok. Have not checked mech. lift pump. Going to put in Electric lift pump soon. IP was rebuilt around 75k ago, according to previous owner which means it is probably BS. I run only ULSD with Powerservice.

Have you seen this thread?

I was wondering what a Moose pump and set of Injectors costs? My pump is tired and injectors are original G injectors.
