Injector pump removal, 9/16 bolts.

Got my pump all ready to take out except i cant seem to get a regular 9/16 open end wrench on the bottom two bolts. Any one know a handy tool or way that gets these out. Thanks.

I've done it with a normal wrench.
Some will modify a wrench to work.

I used a stubby 14mm to get the bottom two. Just cut a 9/16 or 14mm wrench in half and use it

Snap on makes a special wrench with two open ends at different angles. It worked good for me.

This is the wrench that is in the factory tool kit. Before I had this I used a curved obstruction wrench for starter motors, and thinned out the end with a grinder.

These are the factory tools that come in my timing meter rental program. We also have a member that makes the nice pump turning tool simalar to what you see here. His signon name is Freebird007.
To make the 9/16 wrench fit you need to grind one side of the open end thinner till it fits. The box end needs to be thinned down on the outer edge some too. As for the bend. Best I can say is bend to fit. Heat it up and hammer it.

I had to roll my own, I couldn't get leverage with a stubby.

Remove the Cold Hi Idle Solenoid on the Pass side of the IP, lot easier to get to that Nut/Bolt.

Take a 9/16" box wrench and bend it like this, grind the box end thickness down to fit.

Some one, at some point in time, modified a wrench for the IP bolts, and was kind enough to tell us all how he did it, and post pictures. I think all the values you might need are there.

Yes all i did was go buy another wrench and grind away at it did not have to bend it tho i think it would have made things a little easier. worked great tho and the pump is out.
