im going to attempt to mock up my radiator support today.

ive been looking for a used 97 ish radiator without luck.

do you guys think a 87 IDI radiator will work?
or should i wait and get a new radiator?
the top hose is on a different side, but i can get a hose to fit.

It should cool ok if it is in good shape. From what has been posted here lately the early PSD's 94.5+ early ones had the same exact radiator as the 94 IDI's.......

They do. My '94.5 has a (factory) radiator with a cap on it like the IDI's, and my father-in-law's '97 has a radiator without. Both trucks have the overflow tank. They're the exact same dimension, just a slightly newer design on the newer trucks.

thanks all of you!
this radiator wont cool anything!
it has some fan marks on the tubes, piercing the tubes as well.
im just using it for mock up.
I just got back from a friends house for dinner, and he had a 01 PSD radiator that is in the same shape as
my IDI radiator. perfect for mock up.
cant complain for free!

so now I get to see which one fits better.

I kinda like the capped system like the idi, but I'm going to replace my radiator with the mishimoto, which is the cap less degas style.

i ended up using the 01 radiator.
it fit better.
i have the radiator support half done, i need to make some bushing'd mounts to the frame rail.

now that i need to run a tank, at what elevation to the radiator will it need to be?

on my 87 cap radiator, the recovery tank is below the cap, im guessing as long as the "MIN" level is even with the top of the radiator?

Since that being a cap less system, I think you need it higher than the radiator, or you'll never get the air out.
Is there room to mount it like it was on the 01?

No sir, there is room back by the firewall, or even in The rear of the fender well,
I'm gonna make the front end 1 piece and pivoted in the front so this is likely where it will go

So as long as the cap is higher than the radiator, I'm good?
I can certainly accomplish that
