How Much would this be worth?

Hey i was wondering if you guys could tell me how much this truck would be worth with a blown headgasket? And how hard is the job? I can get a 7.3 idi n/a for $700, would it be better to stick that in? I know the truck has alot of new stuff on it but the cab is also shot. i can get a cab for 50 bucks. do you think it would be worth getting?

It's hard to say not knowing that market, but the thing has a lot of extras on it and it's a pretty nice looking truck, but the engine is a trot line sinker.and i don't care what the guy says about how good the thing runs bla bla bla, if it's got a blown head gasket, as far as I'm concerned, the whole engine is a trot line sinker. A truck with an engine that is not fully running is a NON RUNNING VEHICLE no matter how you try to fluff it up, and in this economy, the guy can wish all day long and he's not going to get thousand dollar bills jumping into his pocket for a dead truck. If he wants top dollar then he's going to have to fix the thing, otherwise he's going to have to take what he can get. Make sure to bring cash with you cash talks BS walks.
I'd give him $500 for it but then I'm a cheap old ******* , It might be worth as much as $7-800 in that market if the interrior was clean, but are you saying the cab is shot on this thing ? If that's so, I'm sticking with my $500. Bring a stack of $50 bills and wave them in front of him ( if ya REALLY gotta have the thing have a few extra in your pocket )
If you can get a good 7.3 for $700 to drop into it, that would be a good deal, it might run you more than that for head work when you pop the heads off that thing. BEcause it would be stupid to just slip new head gaskets in without at least having the heads inspected and you would most likely find they needed a handful of guides and a valve job etc, it could wind up $400 a head by the time its all said and done.

I agree, you never know what you'll find until you crack it open. It may not even be a head gasket since you know nothing about the truck, no way to tell. It would be a total crapshoot, pay as little as possible. A cab swap aint no picnic either

I agree, unless you can get it for a little more then scrap price, it would be a shot in the dark.

The stacks, rims, and roll bar can be sold for a couple hundred maybe more. But the real moneys in the motor. Most of the parts on that truck really aren't sought after. Id buy it if it were in great shape and I had a spare motor to throw in it, or if I wanted parts and could sell off the rest to make most of my money back.

Well i went and looked at it today. Needs a cab wich he said he has one to throw in for it, He actully started it for me, btw it was really cold today. He had it pugged in and it started but it spun really fast, while it was running the right side stack started puffin that sweet smelling white smoke bad.he only let it run for less than a minute cause he didnt want to wreck it anymore. I got him down to $800 be he dont want to go any lower, he showed me recipts of all the mechanical stuff he did to it recently totalling to more than $550. Do you guys think i should go for it? i told him id let him know tommarow.

a month ago I paid $350 for a good running f250 SC 4x4 with a bad C6.

I'd give that to him no problem if the truck had either good bones, or a good drivetrain. Sounds as if it has neither, and I'd hold out for a better rig.

If it has lots of good parts, then that's what the truck's good for - parts. If he wants his money back, then he can tear it down and sell them.

Wow....$350 for a good running 4x4! BTW.... I didn't know C6's went bad!

All transmissions can fail. The C6 just does it less often.
