Hole in the exhaust runner

96 PSD high miles. I thought it was going to be the standard exhaust manafold problems customer says loud popping noise. I look at it and there is a dime size hole in the exhaust runner on Cyl 8 right before the manafold mating surface. Has anyone ever jury rigged somthing like this???
Whats a used head worth? They wont take this as a core so there is no sense in buying a rebuilt one.

I paid close to 1500 for 2 reman heads from ford when I windowed the block last year if that helps any?

seen it once before, but on pass side,
took a die grinder, ground it clean, welded it up.
been 2 yrs and so far it has been OK

I want to thank everyone for there input. It's a poor guys plow truck so we stuffed it full of furnace cement and told him that next time we will have to weld it. Thats going to be a tight fit to get at it with the grinder to get it clean. I would never do this to a front line truck. Thanks again
