OMG! I can't believe this. I took my truck to a mechanic a week or so ago to get the locked up calipers replaced, they did. Now today they are locked up again. The master is new, lines are new, soft lines are new, new fluid throughout by now. I just don't know whats going on. I've never had this much trouble with brakes on one of these trucks before.

Make sure the pushrod on the master isnt pushing the piston, classic problem on fords, also , did the brake hoses get replaced?

very classic problem. While the calipers are "locked up", crack a bleeder screw loose.

The calipers were under warranty from O'reileys since they only had 5k miles on them. I believe they are wagner brand. Also, the hoses are new, as is well everything in the braking system.

did they put the pins in right? a lot of shops dont notice the pins actualy have a narrower and wider side to match up in the grooves. this causes a no slide condition and thus a dragging brake. also did they grind the grooves smooth so they were clean and would help prevent a drag of the pin sliding?

Never thought about the pins. I just assumed it was common sense to put them in the right way and clean the slides. I always clean the slides and then use caliper grease in them or never seize.

I was fully loaded and needed to perform a panic stop, luckily all 4 truck tires AND trailer tires locked up and I avoided the accident, but now my truck pulls to the left under braking. I know the previous owner replaced the calipers, pads and MC, but he is a Chevy guy, and probably didn't know there is a right and a wrong way to install the sliders.

Does anyone have a pic of the proper was to service and install the sliders?

The weirdest part about mine is they started working again last night. So they were locked up during the day but then last night they worked fine.

Also, I just looked at my master reservoir and its full, but the front of my booster is all wet, thats not a good sign for yet another new master cylinder. what happened to people doing something right and with pride. At Baldwin, I have to make sure everything is absolutely perfect. Our top 3 goals are Safety, Quality, Productivity. NOT Productivity, Safety, Quality like it seems most places run by these days. ***

Just look at the pins and grooves. One groove(i think on the bracket side) is wider than the groove in the caliper. make sure the pin is aligned the same way. apply a little grease to them and make sure you sand the grooves really well so they are clean and smooth, dont have to be shiny steel but get rid of the rust.

Ok, so the pins are in good and have plenty of grease on them. Only thing could be wrong there is if they didn't sand the slides clean.
So, now I'm wondering if theres something wrong with my master cylinder thats holding them up, especially now that I see fluid running down the booster.

if the booster pushrod is too long, the brakes will work fine until things get warm, then the calipers will be locked up. After cooling completely its back to the same deal all over again.

I don't believe I have the adjustable booster pushrod. Maybe the master cylinder one inside the booster is but I honestly don't know. I bought it as a set and its supposed to be calibrated already.

Hrm - maybe I'm just confused. I know there are a few different styles of calipers - I've got this style. Are you guys talking about another style? I've never noticed any difference with the rubber style pins...

Sorry for the *somewhat* hi-jack, just trying to lean the nuances with these calipers, I've never noticed anything different, I just pound them in... :dunno
