So I parked my truck in front of the DT 360 and did some tape measure work; this DT is one big *****! Compared to the IDI, it's about 6" longer, 4" taller (the valve cover will be about the same height as the radiator) and is actually a hair wider than the IDI if you factor in all the parts hanging off of the sides of the engine. She's gonna be tight.

But I'll start another thread pertaining to the DT swap.

One way I'm going to try and shave off some length is ditching the fan and add pushers on the radiator and try a swap from the 4 row v-belts to a single serp belt. But, the DT466 is roughly 10-11 inches longer that the IDI. Height and width aren't bad. Sneeking in the big twins will be a fun challenge though. LOL

Not totally related, but your DT flashing piqued my curiosity.

How does the brazilian Ford 6.6L stack up against the DT360 as far as size and performance potential?

From what little I can garner off the web its a stout design with direct injectors and an easy to turn up pump that can use gov spring and fuel plate mods from the 5.9 cummins. Only 170Hp stock, but that is about par with the earl 5.9s.

It will fit fine. It is the same dimensions as a 5.9 cummins

Just because I wanted to verify what Brad posted;
I got a drawing of the dimensions of a Cummins (included below - not great but the best I found)
After taking a tape measure to the DT 360 sitting in my garage;
The DT block is only about 1/2" longer than the Cummins. The widths of the 2 are pretty much the same, and the Cummins might be a hair taller than the DT (at least to the bottom of the oil pan).
The only place where the DT is bigger is in the accessory drives on the front of the engine. My DT has a huge 11-1/4" x 2-1/4" harmonic damper on the front with a big 3 rib pulley sandwiched behind the damper. The water pump has 2- 2rib pulleys sandwiched together, for a total of 4.
So my best guess is that the huge, medium duty accessory drives probably add about 2" in length to the DT in their stock form over the Cummins; otherwise, the 2 engines are virtually the same size.

There's been a lot of debate. I had a hell of a time finding any actual dimensions on the Cummins. Most people just say "it's roughly a 34" cube".
Dimensions on the DT 360 were even more vague. So now that I actually have one to measure, we now know there shouldn't be any issues with it's size.........especially if I can figure out how to pear down the accessory drive setup.

Put about a 3-inch body-lift on the truck before you start and your entire life will be easier. :)

I'm already figuring it will help a lot to get the back of the valve cover back underneath the cowl.......then again I do have a sledge hammer.
