Extension fitting needed for e4od test port temp sender?

I've been putting off installation of the temp gauge that I pulled from the RV that was on the hot line, installed in a tee that came with the kit, as shown below.

My understanding is the test port is an acceptable place to put a temperature sender on the E4OD, unlike C6. Is that true? And the port should be 1/8" npt?

But how deep is the port? Would the probe fit directly, which is 1/8" npt, or do I need an extension fitting so that it doesn't restrict flow?

I have my trans temp sender in the E4OD test port. The sender feeds the Isspro gauge. There was no adapter necessary.

I had a B&M gauge sender installed directly in the test port on a 4r100 for about 6 years, was still functioning properly when I did the zf6 swap.
