I found a 2002 Excursion with a 7.3L PSD. The truck is extremely clean and in excellent shape. The issue is it has 217,000 miles on it. The man who owned it was a pharmaceutical rep and kept it on the road all of the time. It is a limited with every option available. The attractive part is the asking price is only $9000. Should I let the miles scare me?

Not at all, we've got close to 300k on ours. They will run forever when taken care of, which is sounds like has been.

miles dont mean jack!!sorry but one thing that really pushes my buttons is people worried about the mileage.look at it,has it been taken care of?if so what does the mileage have to do with anything?i payed 10 grand for my 94 super duty with 240,000 miles on it and i didnt even test drive it or anything.handed the guy 10 grand cash, threw a plate on on it and drove it home.i got another 100,000 miles out of it before the tranny blew.and its still running everyday for somebody else.

Definately wouldn't be worried, just make sure it was maintained decently, and the air filter box isn't broken or the turbo isnt dusted. Thats the biggest killer of 7.3's dirty air getting into the engine via broken airbox or K&N intake\drop in filter.

Ask if the tranny has ever been rebuilt. I think that year is when the tranny had the mechanical diode in it. Somebody correct me if wrong.

EDIT: Checked on the TDS, it is the 4R100 build date from 07/27/00 to 03/23/01.

Mine just turned 200K, and other than a cracked injector cup, it's been trouble free. Do yourself a favor though and get an Edge Products Evolution programmer and run program #2. I went from 19MPG to 21.4 and it runs like a scalded dog! It was $500 but will pay for itself in 10 weeks!
