A timely thread as I just wrestled with how to do a pre-lub on the 6.9IDIT after rebuild. I wound up removing the pipe plug on side of oil filter pad, replaced it with a plug with 3/8” hose barb connection and using a fabricated pressure pot to push fresh oil thru galleries at 20psi. Then once oil showed up in pan removed pressure from pressure pot and turned engine manually with wrench on harmonic balancer bolt to have oil pump fill oil cooler body and part of galleries (probably minimal) between pump and oil filter. Then replaced plug of oil filter pad. This was done while engine on stand but could possibly be done in chassis too just harder to access the plug due to motor mount and x-member interference. Plan is to pull wire to fuel shutoff solenoid and disable glow plug then use starter in short bursts to turn over til get oil pressure indication on gauge before first start.
Any thought on adequate to properly prelude?
