Electric Fans-CFM

I just read the thread re: "Electric Fans Part 2" by Geonc. Well done, but brings me to my question: Does anyone know how to determine the CFM out put of different 12V electric fans??

Rog, I have searched for the actual CFM ratings and have seen anywhere from 3k to 4500k

as far as the formula, I haven't a clue...

All I can say is they do work

depends on what you're doing, but gererally, the manufacturer should have them rated for CFM.

There's too many variables to compute it yourself; motor speed, blade diameter, blade count, blade pitch, blade shape, blade area... etc, etc, etc...

I was going to try to keep the cost down and fab some fans from the local bone yard if I could get an idea of how much flow I would accomplish. Without a ball park figure re CFM it is not worth the risk particularly if there is towing involved.
I want to to be the tower not the towee.

So....I'll just put that project on the back burner for awhile and work on something more practical like adding hydrolics to my OBS so I can bounce up and down while driving down the street on cruise night.

I believe the Windstar and Taurus fans in tandem have proven to work, if you want to do salvage yard stuff.
