the only BB springs i have are a 4" lift, but there on the MANchero...
i gotta buy pistons, so no room for springs right now in the budget....

the only problem with that is that the junkyards around here suck!!!
i would have to travel to one of the several yards 60 miles away. which wouldnt be so bad, if they wernt on opposite ends of the map.
and no side job money in sight...
ive been turning them down to work on my rig
guess i coulda sacrificed the powder coating, but oah well lol

sent out some 1 3/4" magnetic stainless to my buddy with a badass lathe!
i am going to make this happen!!!
the top bung will be 4.5" long
and a 1" spacer on the bottom, inside of the shackle to correct the spacing for the frame.
its going to be a big gnarly shackle.
but its going to be slick...
the rear half of the body mount will be modified.
looks like ill only have to delete 1 rivet.
pics to come...
gonna go get the front spring mount done today, hopefully.
i am going to make this happen!!!

yup! same concept, just a bit stronger!!!
1.750 bar stock with a 7/16 thru hole...
had a buddy machine em up.
they should be done for install tomorrow.
i got the front leaf hangers kinda done...
3 x 4 box tubing is grafted into the frame rails.
and welded.
the hangers them self are not to my liking..
i may reinforce them, i may change them.. but for now there in!!!

Glad my idea wasn't crazy enough to scare you off
How thick are you making the plates? 1/2" will be pretty sturdy...The front hangers, looking at the pics are they just tabs welded to the bottom of the square tube? Wouldn't trust that one bit, no way! You need some redundancy there, and a single weld seam even if double-sided still ain't it. I'd be cutting some plates that can be stacked over the outer plates of your current hangers, then wrap around the square on the front side and lay over the frame rails. Kinda L-shaped, with the bottom leg having a hole drilled towards the end for the spring eye bolt to go thru. Top leg can be welded to side of the frame, or you can bolt it on if you so prefer.

agreed. the front spring perch is no bueno.
i will be coming up with something different
something that will cup the spring, and gussets on both sides.
maybe even make it with 3 settings of 2" intervals for future suspension lift.
i had 15 minutes left and i wanted to get them hung lol

Nothing wrong with that rush job - at the very least you know where the axle sits and that usually opens up a whole another set of ideas.
The 2" lift spacing, fine and dandy up front, but what about the shackles? Do you plan on having the shackles remade if you ever go for lifting this thing?
And speaking of shackles, where do you plan on putting the pivot for them, height-wise along the frame rail side? If you place it as close to the lower rail flange as possible that allows you to tie the shackle bushing's outer shell into the rail flange, stronger by design there with less actual gussets and reinforcements. Also allows you to run a brace between the two shackle plates pretty much as soon as they clear the rail flange. May end up with an inch of lift that way tho, and you'll have to re-caster the axle. But should end up about as strong as it can be.

im thinking in the middle of the rail.
itll require some inner gussets, but im also planning on plating the frame on the inside 6" fore and aft of the upper shackle mount.
2 gussets in triangle form, all 5/16 plate.

BREAK TIME TO LET METAL COOL
i started on the passenger side.
got the body mount and rear leaf hanger cut out.
about to drill the frame for the bungs i had made.
looks like the bung will be welded 1" above the lower frame rail.
i will be gusseting the hell out of the inside, then plating the frame.

work cut short today. gotta watch the boys.
but i got both sides cut, i got the hole in the frame drilled,
shackle template mocked up.
could not find my 1/2 " plate, may end up using 3/8 plate,
or waiting till monday and have my buddy cut them out on the plasma bed.

inside frame plated,
and that's a wrap for today.
gotta go get the kids a hallows eve costume.
I used a piece of pipe to get the weld in bungs
Straight, true, and aligned with eachother
new poly bushings came in today as well!
