No they wont ,the pinion bore is offset on the 61. Been down this road several times , usually late at night in a parking lot.

What he said! I had a set of 3.73 gears for mine that were boxed/misidentified wrong, they were stamped 61 and would not work in my 60

well then I need to find a 70ish ford dana 61. I remember seeing one in a 78 f250 trailer special one time with a 460 c6 and 3.07s. I thought it was kinda crazy for it being a trailer special and having hwy gears.

I have a dana 60 rear and a set of 3.54s to go in it. With my Gear vendors it will run out nice. With the 4.10s now it still seems to like running 50-55mph. It just seems like the engine likes to stay at 1600-1800rpm. This truck is going to be my daily driver cause I cant afford gas for my crewcab and I have about 300 gallons of wmo to start filtering this weekend.

The Dana 61 is a 3.08 specific model. It is a Dana 60 with the input housing slightly offset to accept the larger gear. I'm not aware of any Dana 61's in a ratio other than 3.08. I am actively looking to purchase one for the Scarlet Moose. I have prices of $500 and $700 in my area, and would like to do better.

I found this info on Wikipedia

Dana 61

A variation of the Dana 60 known as a Dana 61 was made to accommodate gear ratios that allowed for better fuel mileage. This was done as a direct result of the 1973 oil crisis. A 3.07:1 gear ratio was common for these axles and unachievable in a regular Dana 60. To allow for the different gearing, the Dana 61 had a greater pinion offset. This offset meant that a different carrier and a different ring and pinion had to be used. The Dana 61 was made in semi-float and full-float axles for select 4x2 Ford 3/4 Ton and 1 Ton Pickups and Vans from 1974 - 1987. A Dana 61 front axle was selectively used in Dodge 4x4 3/4 Ton and 1 Ton pickups from 1987 - 1993. Although 3.00:1 and 3.07:1 gear sets are possible from a Dana 61, lower gear sets (4.56:1 on down) are not.

I have a Dana 61 3.08 ring and pinion in very good condition for sale for $100 + shipping.
