just bought a 1986 f250hd, 6.9 c6,208f t case, , my "old" 93f250.7.3 auto, straight axle swap, has died, brought it back a few times from rust, but now, it's too much, rust, trans, problems, electric, bla, bla,,
So... my new f250hd has a dana 60, king pin front axle, looks stock, nothing looks swapped, just wondering if this is stock, I've read here that the tach, in dash is rare, maybe the front axle is too?? not hoping for a gold unicorn, just like to know what i need parts for, just looking for info, maybe someone who knows ford history will chime in??
plans for now is to fix all the little fuel leaks, wiring.go over everything i can and fix it right before i drive it..
as this will be my d.d. (someday)
Thanks for the help.... edit,,did more searching, the t case is (as the tag reads) 208f for the t case, but has a fixed yoke, rear and front,

Standard cabs got the Dana44hd, extendo cabs got the dana50, and f350s were the only ones to get the dana 60. Someone's swapped that truck. Also looks like someone's done some custom stuff. They didn't come with dual steering dampers on them.

I thought the d60's were only on the f350, but I have definitely been known to be wrong before (according to my wife, more than in rite).

You should be able to look up the info on the data sticker on the driver side B pillar and find most of the details.

Since the fenders have obviously been repainted is it actually titled as a f250 or did someone swap the front clip?

This is also a good point. My truck is a 350, but with my old 250 fenders, and I'm too lazy to change the badges.

Isn't the only real difference between the 250 and 350 of this era is the front axle and springs? Rear axle is the same?

By 1986, tachs weren't rare at all. I think that they became so popular that Ford decided to make them standard the next year with the body style change. In trucks, not vans.

No D60 in an '86 f250. Std cabs often got the D44 ttb, so perhaps it reached end-of-life and was abandoned. It's an easy upgrade to a 60. I swapped one in 4-5hrs. The front driveshaft would have needed shortening or replacement.

Fixed rear yoke on 208f means it's probably from a bronco.

F250 and 350 pickup is often the same axle once they dropped the Dana's and used the 10.25". (85ish up)

thanks everyone, i was 99% sure only 350s got the dana 60, but the p.o. was very sure it was a f250hd,, so that's why it has a 60,,, oh well,,, 1 other thing i forgot to mention, the rear axle has a brake proportioning valve for heavy loads, and it works,, or it moves freely any way. ,,,,
so now i know i have a f350 in f250 clothing. i will post more pictures as i go over it , ..
Thanks again for the help...

@nhwrench01 I didn't notice the looking like it was painted with a brush, all I noticed was the unpainted section in the center of the fender emblem.
