I think you mean IP (Internet Protocol). However, IP addresses work a little differently than that. No matter what ISP (Internet Service Provider) he chooses, he will still have the same IP address due to his location. You can't simply call up your phone company and ask them to change something like that either.

If "jsnap" moved, used his buddies' internet, a local wifi hot spot, or maybe even is using a proxy server to get around his ban (although I don't think he is intelligent enough for that) he would simply just create a new name and go undetected with the ability to browse at will.
Although with his temper I would think threads like this would bring him out of hiding with ease lol.

You can take an I.P. from just about any country you like. it does take a little longer for the page to load though.

It looks like he has been trying to sell that pump for a month and no bites. He would have been better off just to say what the pump is and not connect it with it is not,....a Moose Pump. Because it is a pretty fair price for a quality rebuilt pump. I don't like the sitting for 4 years thing thou,..

What we need is a MAC address ban on him. We use them on a few of the gaming sites I admin at. I've seen people get around an IP ban easily but none of them have gotten around the MAC ban. I know a couple ways how but they cost money.

Ah, that is also a good way for him to get around...all depending on if he is that savvy. I myself prefer a few free proxy servers that serve as a good work-around when needed.

The extend to which people are willing to complicate their lives is sometimes rather mind-boggling to me - if they need to put that much work just to get around a ban, I think they're missing the big picture - for instance I vist OBN cause I like hanging out with you folks (in a sense), if I get banned then that means I'm no longer welcome here, which would effectively remove the reason for me visiting the site - what would be the point of jumping through hoops just to log onto a board which members you can't interact with?

thats just it. i dont guess he gets the big picture its not that hard, and just like you explained it. they banned him, so therefore he is no longer welcome. he's still watching this thread

I've looked into copyright and such. You can't copyright a name, but you can copyright a Trademark. That takes a lot of time and effort. To be Frank, I like the name, but if somebody takes it and sues me to stop using it, then I'll just rename it "Mel's pump" or something else. You guys won't care, as long as it's the same good pump your accustomed to. Jsnap is one of those guys who seems to live for some kind of conflict. Remember, he's up there in Staten Island, land of cut throat living and every man for himself mentality. I still only collect $75 on each pump I sell. Out of that I PAY THE Shipping to the lower 48. Costs me about $30 to send a pump to the west coast. Then there is gas for my wife to Hot Rod to Joel's to do the pickups and drop offs. By the time it's said and done, if I cleared $25 on it, I figure I'm doing OK. That's enough to take my wife to dinner as thanks for doing this for us. Unfortunately, if my son is along it still ends up costing me. I'll be happy to show the recept from Joel to anyone who asks if they need proof this is how I do it. It's been quite a while since I've seen a Moose Pump that cost my client over $700. Almost always, they are in the high 5's to 600 and change range. I find it ironic that Jsnap never ran the pump that is the basis for all his grief, and let the warranty run out on it in so doing. He also admits the pump cost a good bit more than the $450 he was asking for. Gee, could it be that it was in the high 5's to 600 and change range? Yes somehow, I'm an A$$hole for selling them at a profit. I just don't get it.

BTW, before I had my F-350 or had found this forum, I had trouble with my Mercedes 300SD. There was a kids' fad - wearing "jewelry" that included a 3-point star hood ornament. After losing a few of those I mounted a rubber Bullwinkle as my hood ornament. I still have him with outstretched arms leading the way. So even though I'm running the stock Bosch IP, that car has been the Moose cedes Benz.

Mel... You continue to show us your a man with compassion for others. What you charge is what I pay.. No explainations necessary. I don't blindly trust anyone but you and Rus... Well maybe Calvin too...... Some "fella" from ny just wants to hear himself talk and cause trouble... Remember.... Misery loves company rule.... That fool really must be miserable... I know first hand.. He has sent me plenty of emails begging me to call him on his cell phone so... "He can cuss me out in person".... I reallly thought doing something in person was having eye to eye contact with someone..... Reading any of his makings is terrible. He has accused you of being my "boyfriend"... Back in the 50s or 60s saying something like that to another man could cause your heart to stop due to lead poisening... I listen to these rants and just laugh but throwing anyone he could under the buss was not nice at all. What you do for us here is beyond thanks. I value what you contribute here more than anything else. I'm sure you feel that. This "fella" has just about run his course here. I'm sure he lives in a basement at grandmas house..
