cheap crane idea

First time attaching pics to this site, I hope it works.

Here is a harbor freight crane with some attachments that my buddy helped me fab up to help me get heavy stuff in the one ton.

Just thought I'd share the idea.

Interesting idea...how is the crane attached to the bar? (I noticed that the crane isn't there in the second pic)...I could be wrong, but it doesn't look like there's really much of a foot on the bar for the crane to bolt to.

OT, I think you might be the first person I've seen on here from Eureka...just curious, what part of the area are you in? My mom lives near Henderson Center and works at the hospital...I typically go up there 4 or 5 times a year...

The long black tube is made from receiver tube and the crane is mounted on a plate that slips into either side of the long black tube so I load from either side. When I drive I put the crane in the bed.

Those logs came from buck mountain road off hwy. 36.

need to attach something of a reinforcment,,from the pivot post center,,to the back left box pocket.....something that will pivot with it,,,

The crane itself pivots. It seems to work well.

That's a neat way to mount and use that crane. I have the other HF crane with the hyd. jack on it mounted in my cargo trailer at the back off to the side, Had to attach and reinforce a plate to the frame to mount it there.

Just thought I'd share the idea.

My son got me that same crane for Christmas some several years ago and it is always mounted on the truck unless a gooseneck is behind it.

It has been a constant helper and has saved the day on many occasions.

Recently, I had to hook to a bumper-trailer that someone had failed to put a block under the jack; I hooked the "safety"-chains to the crane and was able to easily put the trailer-hitch anywhere I wanted.

We use it to load short logs for our sawmill that we used to have to roll up skids with a cant-hook = DANGEROUS.


I painted mine black to match the truck.

I wouldn't take a million dollars for it.

A friend of mine still has a few bumper cranes. He used to sell them. They are old. The idea was a crane that folded into what looks like a step bumper. The crane is 12 V electric.

Seeing as how I ain't myself got sense enough to know how to post pictures, I hesitate to ask, but I sure would like to see some pictures of those cranes, both in step-bumper mode and also in action mode.
