No one here has mentioned the fail safe redneck test of whether it is a factory 4x4...
Look at the driver's sun visor and check for instructions:D

This is my 99.5 Centurion. Sig below.

I like that 94 you showed. There was nothing around here like that when I was looking for one to go to Alaska.

Cheap ass me, on that 5er tailgate.

It came that way. All the BS about "ford" not making them is nitpicking.
They were special order/conversions.
But you could have walked into the dealer, bought it brand new as a dually.

no it's not.it's factual.

just because a dealership would act as a middle man,and take a cut of $ from you to have your new truck sent off to someone outside of the ford assembly line once it was built,to have a srw 4wd converted into a dually, doesn't mean it was done by ford in any shape, way or form.
it just means someone paid a dealership extra $ for having it done for them, rather than taking it to a shop to have it converted themselves.if "it came that way" then it would roll off the assembly line in this manner as indicated via the VIN.no pickup 4wd dually VIN's are known to exists (only f350 cab and chassis- incomplete vehicle/no bed/narrower frame.) therefore none came that way.

Didn't say it was done by ford.
My point is, Wouldn't you go to the dealership to get?
People act as if they didn't exist at all.

let's nip this argument in the bud right here right now...

it seems nobody is arguing that the dealership had it done and sold it as a new truck....

so let's just call it a dealer installed option, whether it was a 2wd drw converted to 4wd, or a 4wd srw converted to drw (remember the dealer dualies thread a few years ago?)

bring on the flames :backoff

Today I will get to see this thing in person. We were set for last night but that didn't with out on both our ends. The son just got into town and is trying to get the batteries charged and air in a flat. I had a potential buyer for my truck run late.

Is there a way to tamper with the odometer on these? I can imagine disconnecting the speedo but I don't know if that's how they work on these trucks. Not that I think they tampered with anything but sub 100k miles on a 20+ year old truck will always have me questioning.

I'm told it needs brake work (don't know the scope) and glow plugs. The son sounded like he may be repaint the dead plug(s) today. But everything else is up to par then I'm giving to try to buy it. More truck then I need but can one ever have too much truck?

That's a good idea. I usually look over the vehicle as a whole but never thought to look at the pedal wear before.

Well it's a dually right? Has 4 wheels at the backing driving it? Hahaha
