can you replace battery terminal connectors?

I would think that the lead terminals would start to melt by that point also. Not sure what if any alloy is in them, but I know that I can melt lead out of a jacketed bullet in an kitchen oven :)
Actually common electrical solder's melting point is much lower than lead because it is mixed with tin, not to mention a battery post is much thicker allowing it to absorb much more heat. Ever wonder why you never see a store bought batttery cable that is soldered???

I have done them all three ways; soldered, crimped, and soldered/crimped together.

I have had the best long-term success by cleaning the copper lug and wire strands as best as I can, saturating the strands with Vaseline, and crimping ALONE with no solder whatsoever.

Done right, crimping makes the two individual parts into one un-breakable bond.

Not so with solder in the long run; sooner or later, heat and vibration break it down. ;Sweet
