My truck seems to hit 3200 really fast in second and third and feels like it want to keep pulling. Is it common to modify it to come on a little later? Is it dangerous for the engine?

What are you using it for? I run my truck hard, and never see the gov.

You can tighten the governor spring so it hits later like the 3800 range. You can also swap it with a 6.2/6.5 spring that'll let it spin 4400. I want to try that one on my old truck.

They say occasional rpms like that in short burst should still be ok. Just remember the amount of mass your throwing around like that, and if it blows up you can only be mad at yourself.
