Anyone have big mud flaps on their truck to keep the road salt down? I get to work a smidge early each day to kick off the snow and clean out the salt.

Builds on the front side of the steps, the cab corners, and the back corners of the rear bumper. Im surprised it doesnt build in the rockers more. May need another undercoating since they just use endless salt in my town.

I was thinking of just getting some thick rubber and making oversized ones or possibly some conveyor belt scraps. But a clean looking set woukd be nice.

This is just a thought, but what about horse stall mats. They come in 1/4", 3/8", 1/2", 3/4". I have a few of each out back, and I am think of making some mud flaps out of it. I used some of the 1/4" recently to replace a flap guard on a big flail mower. Worked great! That is some tough stuff.

Not sure on these being the biggest but are what I found, there wide ones look like they could do for my 315/75/16 tires on 10in wheels. I may be getting those at some time so that I have something along with fender flairs, this also what was thinking for those. For me with the front wheels standing out 2in, debre off the ground is thrown all over the place even on the windows.

@Scotty4

@1mouse3 , where did you get those ?! I want a set !

for the semi truck size
(I had to modify them to fit and made my own brackets ) but they are thick and don’t flap around
https://ihgear.com/collections/international-harvester-ih-mud-flaps

for the small one ( regular)

https://oldinternationaltrucks.com/parts-store/miscellaneous/mud-flap-24by-30-red-black-ih-logo/
I'm gonna get them.

@1mouse3 being the bullnose the emblems are different. I may make something up on a 3D printer one day but for now

That is what I have on the rear of the 86.
Mine are black, 24 x 30 as I remember.
Bought them at a truck stop.

I wanted them as close to the tires as I could
mount them. But the way the springs are etc...
I removed the tail Gate, and the flat edge of the
bed, I drilled 3 holes and used 3/8" bolts and
Fender washers.

The top edge of the flap is just below the bed
floor, 2" off the ground and extends 3" past the
body.

The top out side corner I cut round so the square
edge didn`t stick out. Also cut it to fit curve of bed.

I always had a ton of Snow packed under the bed
and inside the Bumper.
Also keeps rocks and crap off my Car Trailer or
vehicle Iam hauling.

When I have a load, then I have Dragon Flaps....LOL.

I was thinking of adding the chrome strip along the bottom, these dd weight and keep them from
flapping in the wind. Also tail gaters at night get
their head lights flashed back in their eyes, and they
back will off.

I bought an 82 Datsun 720 KC Diesel back in 10/81.
I put a set of Peter Bilt front flaps on it with the
chrome strips. That`s where I discovered they would
back off it they got too close.

@1mouse3 thanks! Just ordered me a set of the badges

If you use the smaller mud flaps they are thin and not as strong/ flap in the wind This is why I bought mine from IHgear.com because mine are trucker tire mud flaps ( 24”w x 30”L) and they don’t flap easy, strong and thick but I had to take off about 4 inches from the bottom to get mine to fit without dragging,
I also sit at only 2” over stock right height.
Worked great for keeping the salt off my bike and trailer

I just ran a piece of mild steel Angle and tied into the fender/bed and the frame, 1 hour install time
