You didnt whoop a 6.0 psd no way, unless you got some god given holy grail IDI then it didnt happen, i take that back you probly did win, because as you were racing the 6.0 blew up:D

But seriously i can see an idi whooping 1stgen psd's becasue i have ate many for breakfast, but a 6.0 is not going to happen

If the 6.0 isnt racing he could win. If the 6.0 stomps it in 2wd with an open carrier, he most likely could win. It can happen. And 6.0's just dont randomly blow up.

Stock gearing is a 3.73 open carrier. In 2wd if he was racing you then he was spinning until he hit 3rd. I dont know how far apart your lights are but there is some reason you actually did beat him that you arent giving him credit for. If it was a stock 7.3 i could see this being reasonable. Im not here to pick apart you story nor do i care but i have an 05 6.0 outside and i can put it on stock and me and you can race light to light if you want.

Now where can i find information on this stroker kit.

O.K. I usually don't respond to the 6.0 bashing. Today is different. My 06' 6.0 now has 125k miles on it. I turned a wrench on it for the 1st time last sunday to replace the dummy plugs in the high pressure oil rails. Was so clean you could eat of it inside. I was very amazed at how clean this engine is inside. It has never failed to start or do anything I've asked. It is all original right down to the egr valve and cooler(minus the new dummy plugs). I have pulled my gooseneck with my tractor and JD430 round baler on it (tractor weighs 7600 lbs baler? and trailer 4k) and it ran up the steeper backroads around here, well over 7% at times, without issue. Pulls the three horse w/living quarters trailer (10klbs empty) loaded with ease and manages to hold mileage around 12.5-13 mpg running at 70 on the interstate while doing so. When not towing with a tune in it (most of the time) I can pull 20 mpg on highway runs. Plus it's really quick for a truck when tuned. I have stomped it doing 35-40 mph and spun the tires. In my 24 years of vehicle ownership this has been the most reliable vehicle I've ever owned. That includes both a Honda and Toyota bought new off the lot.

So keep going on with your uninformed, internet propaganda biased, borrowed opinion. Never forget that many, many IDI's had catastrophic problems when new. I know a guy who had an 85 f250 IDI. Bought it brand new and was impeccable about maintenance. Original engine lasted about 120k miles. Blown head gaskets. A guy I met in Richmond ran a tow truck with a 6.9 in it. Never got over 150k on any engine in the truck. Blown head gaskets on all of them. He was on his fourth engine when he sold it. This was a common issue with the 6.9. The 7.3's had bad cavitiation issues. As time has progreesed the issues were figured out and reliablity established.

Of all the people I've met personally with 6.0's only one has had head gasket failure. I've personally met 2 people with 6.9 head gasket issues. A stock 6.0 will get to 32lbs of boost before the computer steps in. I've seen it on mine. Do 3/4 of that on a 6.9 and tell me what happens.

Am I saying the 6.0 is more reliable than an IDI. No way. I love my IDI just as much but I am overly tired of hearing about the time bomb 6.0. No ones engine blows up in a calculated, expected way. As ULSD has become the fuel standard the primary cause of 6.0 failures has been seriously reduced. Water in the intake due to a blown EGR cooler that was gummed up from the LSD fuel available at the time the engine was introduced. The EGR system was mistakenly designed in Europe where they already had a cleaner diesel. It couldn't handle the soot of the fuel here and well we all know what problems that created.

So if you want to criticize something I ask only this. Learn about the thing, good and bad, before you jump on the bandwagon of some else's agenda.

Done with rant.:D

almost 2 pages about a 6.0 on a 6.9-7.3 forumn. I wonder how good they (6.0) will be when they are old enough (cheap enough) for my broke ass to own one?

I keep looking for a rolled short box ex cab on co=part for stage 2 of my truck build. Stage 1 was better mpg than a 460, really wanted 4bd1-t, but an IDI presented itself.

Stage two will be more horse (and better mpg if I get something other than a IH product), and I think of all my engine choices, I would welcome a 6.0.. After driving a 6.0 and a 7.3 and a 5.9 ******** 3rd gen, unsure if Common Rail or not... all essentially stock, the 6.0 was the only one that made me smile the whole time I was behind the wheel.

6.0 with the proper deletes and head studs is a decent motor. Plus their trannies are awesome ;Sweet

The trannies are really awesome, but thats the only thing in my opinion, And yes sometimes there are a few good 6.0 here and there consider yourself damn lucky if you have one, no im not just talking out of my ass here i have worked on a couple and it made me want to burn them i hate the stupid things, one of my real close friends has an 03 model its overall been a good truck the only thing we replaced is the turbo and an icp sensor, but other than that no real problems,- this truck just hit 90,000 miles

Then i have another friend with a 6.0 i havent personally worked on it, but he has replaced everything on it, turbo EGR delete, running the 3rd set of head gaskets in the engine as we speak, and the second set of injectors, oh yea and the heads are studded, bought brand new ARP studs everytime he replaces the gaskets:eek: At the moment he is trying his best to sell the POS because something is weird about it, it wont idle right, it kind hunts for IDLE and he is fed up with it and i dont blame him, yes it has a tuner in it EDGE IIRC but thats the only real mod besides the onther mods to try to get it to stay together, this truck has around 150,000 on it

He is lookin to replace the 6.0 with a 7.3 powerstroke

You named 2 trucks.

I have an 05 outside that is my stepdads. Stock head gaskets blew ( too many mods without doing studs ), Studded it with used studs and new gaskets, studs stretched. Re-studded with a new set and good to go. Heads were no where near flat and needed to be machined but problem solved now. The truck makes 400 HP and 800 Ft.lbs with normal minimal bolt ons.

Everyone has issues with something at some point or another. There were design flaws on the 6.0 but by no means does that mean its a bad motor. 90% of the issues from 6.0's with problems came from people doing bolt ons. The 6.0 in stock form is a great motor. Would i own one personally, proly not. Do i think its a mistake to buy one, definitely not.
