So a few weeks ago I noticed fuel leaking out of my IP and filling the valley pan. I had been getting worse MPG for a while too so I decided it’s time to pull it and install a new one.
Truck is my new-to-me 92 7.3 idi with Banks Sidewinder turbo. Has 161K miles and I believe it sat for a good while before I picked it up in the spring.

I have the pump off and the injectors out but took some photos of inside where the injectors sit, anything look bad to you guys? These two photos are from driver side, first and second injectors closest to the grill. The one with the build up is the second closest to the grill.
I have no idea what it is supposed to look like but doesn’t look the best to me…
Oh, injectors looked pretty normal to me though. I’ve been following Mel’s write up throughout so thanks for that Mel! Can’t remember your tag… agne?

Yes sir. Those two injectors actually still had the washers on them. The injectors themself didn’t look too bad, no excessive carbon build up or gunk. One of them was a little more wet but I wouldn’t say it struck me as odd.

Physically you won't see a faulty injector no such think as telling by carbon build up or wetness unless the tip is dripping. If your doing the IP injectors should be done too they say the ip and injectors have a 100k mile service life I know many many of them are way past that on originals though. If it were me I would be doing injectors at the same time these trucks fuel systems are cheap enough compared to the the new stuff. Make sure you buy your fuel system parts from a reputable place in other works r&d idi or russrepair.com basically the only 2 places to go. I put a set of Russ's injectors in my truck and I'll never stop preaching how amazing it runs

@Clb looks like what I had in mind. Been asking around to see what people have been doing to remove debris after cleaning and I’ve got some good info to run with. And @Isaac Ristow who else would you buy from?! Gotta be the tres amigos right?

Out of all 8 injectors this one looked the worse. The rest didn’t have any cake on them at all. Some a little more wet than others but still clean.
This one was passenger side, second from front of engine.

Looked like the copper washers were still in the opening yet you said they were on the injectors still. So there were double washers?

There could have been. You'd better make sure that those are out if they are in there.

Unless there was double washers in there. All 8 injectors had washers on but I’ll be taking a better look. One of the benefits to waiting 4-6 weeks for parts is not being in any hurry!
Could have been it appeared like they were still in there from the lighting/angle of my photo.
