87' 6.9 idi won't turn over.

The red wire position you mentioned in your earlier post where you applied power from the battery (90* slip-on connector) & it started. I cut the wire that sets on that post about 12" and connected my switch wire at that point with butt connector.

thank you guys for all the helpful information you provided!Today I wired in the push button switch that a couple of you recommended, and it started right up without hesitation,and besides the headlight switch going bad as I was test driving it tonight,everything seems to be working good.Thanks
