I have a super duty Dana 80 5.13 rear sitting in the parts truck, but it's 10 lug, and for a cab and chassis truck. The frame is narrower than my pickup.
It's an idea though. If I can find lug pattern adapters to have it the same pattern front and back. I would have to do some figuring on the mounting of the axle, but it may be worth it, so I only have to swap gears up front.

The problem is the gear ratios in the transmission.

My favorite set up so far, was 3.55 with a wide ratio t19 out of an 85 460 pickup. Truck was NA 7.3 and it pulled a trailer far better than any NA truck I have had or been around. Never pulled real heavy with it, never over 10k, but never felt it needed turboed.....and that is highway towing over passes.
I am getting ready to put 3.55s in mine, and an old 435 4 spd in place of the close ratio t19. I have an OD unit I can split gears with and get cruising rpm down. Tired of it being borderline or worse of needing to use low range just to get a trailer moving.

I have a F-Superduty 4x4 I’m about to sell…FYI

With its 5.13 gears, 235-85-16, and zf5 it’s spinning ~2850 rpm to go 65mph. Screaming by my standards, but doable. It’ll do interstate well enough at 65 but 60mph state highway is a joy. With 5.13 you can definitely use all 5 gears all the time.

Oh and it still has manual hubs so it’s got 2wd low range too as well as 4lo/4hi

Look around for a brown light, splice ect. Makes them. Then you double up everything and still have cruising economy.

It’s a May 1994 truck with … a Powerstroke… ZF5, Quigley 4x4 conversion. 134k miles. Cab has rust but is serviceable for a few years yet or isn’t too far gone to fix the rust right now. Mounts are good, rockers are holey. 14’ flatbed.

I’ll post more details in marketplace when I put it up, don’t want to break discussion rules, but it is a great example of 5.13 capabilities!

You have to see if the pickup spring spacing (45"ish) can land on the f450 dana 80 without interfering with the brakes.

I think you mean Brown & Lipe aka a "brownie", or a Spicer? Either way, an auxiliary transmission :) I put a Spicer 5831 in my '65 F-350 (behind the NP435). It's fun to upshift in reverse, twice :D
