I have decided to rehab a 1989 F-250 HD Supercab. A little background: I have 2 trucks; 1987 F250 6.9 240k original miles (supposedly), C6, body is in good shape no dents needs paint. The truck I want to rebuild is the 1989, I bought it with a siezed 7.3, however it is clean, ready for paint, ZF5. I would like to rebuild the 6.9 and put in this truck. I did a compression test this evening and here are the results:
1.410 2.400
3.320 4.400
5.370 6.370
7.300 8. 310
The engine has new glow plugs and BB injectors. Smokes heavily on acceleration and cruising less so, but a lot. I did clean the CDR. I am thinking rings and maybe the head gasket since both back cylinders are 25% less than most others. It does not get very good fuel mileage, but decent power. I have only driven it 150 to 200 miles (it isnt registered).

I am selling my 2011 GM because im tired of the lower fuel mileage and all the emissions that have bogged these trucks down. I want to have a reliable vehicle with this 89 F250. My uncle owns a salvage yard and already has a turbo for me. He has several 6.9/7.3 also. So I have a clean body (actually 2). I may bulld both trucks. I got the Facet/Duralift electric fuel pump in today, and I got 3 relays. One for pump and one for headlights.

What would your opinion be on the state of the engine? Oh, I removed the valve covers and both heads were spotless, no gunk.

The back cylinders showing a lower pressure reading may be from a bad tester connection too. Before tearing into this engine try running some Auto RX engine flush. If the back cylinders have stuck rings it may free them up. With the valve covers off what condition were the valve seals in? Blue smoke usually is from bad intake valve seals.

The smoke is mostly white, grayish. No coolant in oil or oil in coolant. Had oil tested was clean. Smoke clears up quite a bit if driven for a while. Smokes heavy at start up but black then gets to white after a minute.
