Im looking for recommendations on a reputable company that re manufactures the zf 5. I found a number of places online that is selling them but I do not know which one to go with. My truck is down and I need to get it back up and running asap. Any advise would be greatly appreciated!
I just picked up a 1990 F Superduty, 7.3, E4OD, Only has 47000 miles! The truck has a couple small issues but the one im most concerned with is that when they installed the turbo, they removed and capped the trans. filler tube. The down pipe is right in front of the capped off fill tube. I...
Got an 88 f250. Engine is very hard to start. Replaced all the glow plugs with ford motor-craft/ buru plugs. New glow plug control box. Checked continuity of the wiring harness, all is checking out ok. Even the wait to start light is staying on the proper length of time. Is there a possibility...
Got to love them old trucks! I have an 87 f250. It has never let me down, in fact it starts better than trucks half its age! Good luck to your restoration.
I love mine because its never let me down, its ready when i am, affordable to fix, and I can fix it myself. Plus it has better fuel economy (pulling a load or not) than any new truck out there. Also cause its from an era that built a truck to be a truck cause that's what I use it for. Not some...
I just ordered a set of motorcraft/beru, I had 6 champion 2 autolite plugs that were in the truck when i bought it 4 years ago. I replaced the 2 autolite plugs with new ones and now the same two autolites burnt out again only after the 4 years that I owned ther truck. The champion plugs are...
Well it works real good, clutch pedal is easier to depress, gear changes are smooth. I checked the level and it was pretty good. I was thinking on putting 30w non detergent in er though.
I got the hypermax turbo on it and the passenger side up pipe is in the road in order to pull the inspection plate. The sound only changes a little bit when the clutch is depressed, could it be because all the clutch parts are new and just need broke in?
Just got done swaping a T19 for a ZF-5, instauled a new 12" SMF,pressure plate, new pilot and throw out bearings. Started it up and noticed right away that it was making a rubbing sound. It makes it no matter if the clutch is depressed or not. could it be making this noise because it is new?
Just found this on the Hypermax web site, appears they have developed a mechanicly injected powerstroke conversion with an inline pump! Not sure what that would cost but that is cool!

I made a similar intake when I installed the turbo. I made it out of 3" pvc, and used a universal filter from Advance Auto. Cant say that the filter has treated me bad, I just dont like the fact that the open element is pulling all the warm air from the radiator. I think this does affect the...
I think the best idea is to be able to do away with the pre chambers, add the DI injectors and replace the IDI pistons with DI swirl pistons. If you could convert this IDI to DI I think you could make a lot of reliable power compaired to the stock IDI.
Well, I dont really need 10 or more gears, initially I was looking for that road gear for on the highway. Hear in southwestern Pa theres a lot of hills and I need a good setup for pullin them. Like I said the ranger overdrive looks very appealing for my aplication, having an extra gear between...
Advanced adapters has the ranger overdrive unit for my application. The thought of having a low and a high in all 4 gears is appealing as well. Been thinking that if im gonna shell out that much dough, It would be nice to have 4 extra gears than just the one for overdrive.
Well if the trans I have now (T19) is the same length as the ZF, that will definitly make things easier. Does anyone know if the solid mass flywheel from the T19 will work with the ZF? I found what sounds like a clutch package that would allow me to use my solid flywheel. If it all comes...
Well, I am hoping that I could find a transmission locally and buy the nessesary parts from a supplier to make it all work. From what i found out is that to use the nv4500, I will need an adapter plate from the bell housing to the nv4500, and then another adapter plate to bolt up my transfer...
Been looking at my options for a transmission upgrade from a T19 4spd. Looked at the ranger overdrive, the nv4500 conversion, and the ZF. It looks like I will have to alter the drive shafts no matter what route i take, but of course I am looking at the most cost affective option and the one...
I have the hypermax and bought it used and have pieced it together. I tryed to fab the up pipes and let me tell you they did not work well at all. Had exhaust leaks that could not be sealed resulting in loss of turbo boost. I wish I would have bought the hypermax ones from the start, would have...
The only time my temps went way up is when I had the pump turned up 4 flats, pulling a long steep grade. I turned down the pump 2 flats and now have reached only 800 egt's and my temp gage hasnt went up that high since. As far as my cooling system goes, I replaced the thermostat and the water...
The air intake I made is an open element type and I need to be able to enclose the filter so I can attach any type of ducting. What can I use to enclose the filter? That seems to be the hard part.
Last fall I aquired a used hypermax turbo and I made the install myself. I made the intake out of some pvc and bought a k&n type air filter and thats what ive been running. It works well, but now that I turned up my i.p. (was 4 flats) I made a run up the longest hill around and my egts went to...
