Thanks @Rossroams , I lucked out with this truck big time, and my wife is a fan of the two tone so bonus points there.. Not sure what the intercooler is out of but it's massive. Most likely a later power stroke unit . I'll get some pics for you next chance I have.
On another note, I took it for my first joyride last night. First time driving an idi, and I'm hooked now. Holy crap is this thing fun. Runs like a scalded ape!
Havent fixed the boost or pyro gauges yet but have them on the short list. Seat of the pants feel says it's making good power though.
Of course a few things surfaced. I need to address the fuel system again. The IP needs a atf/MMO treatment. After the last run she stalled after I let off the throttle. Have a bit of a white haze under accel so I'm on the hunt for a timing setup as well , starts great hot or cold.
Major death wobble! Scared the crap out of me when. I tapped the brakes coming out of 3rd. Found the track bar mount loose. Tightened that up, improved it but will be looking at all the other suspect items as I can still feel it in the wheel.
Power steering has a leak, topped the fluid off and worked great.
Trans and t-case are perfect. Shifts smoothly, the clutch fix worked wonders.
Anxious as hell to start using this thing.

That’s awesome man, looks like you found a gem. Lord knows my ZF has seen some crap in its day. And I hope you get the death wobble figured out! I’ve found a 2.25” intercooler pipe kit on eBay for like 70$ and it’s tempting me.

Well, finally another bit of progress. Kept loosing power steering, fluid escaping past the oring seal on the ps pump reservoir, as i already had the Ac pump off I opted to yard the whole adapter bracket. New pump and pulley installed .

Just a small update. Been a while since I posted. Family is priorities and a new baby have me working on everything but the truck at This point. Last night I was able to thrash and get the bracket reinstalled and managed to fire it up around midnight. After sitting again for a month she barked after a glowplug cycle and idled perfect. Fixed a boost leak at one of the connections to the intercooler. Boost and pyro guages still need to be rewired. New ps pump works but a new leak reared its head at the pressure side fitting and will now be replacing that too. New plan is to get a temp one day operation permit and move it to my house where I can actually spend some time on it.

I'm a little late to the party, but nice truck and good work! I've also recently bought a 94 XLT 4x4 idit but with a e4od which was what I wanted. Congratulations on the new baby, good luck with your project and welcome to the Forum!

Hey thanks for all the support everyone. This isn't just an awesome resource of a website but a window to a great community as well .
So ive fixed the leaks at the ps pump. Got that working well and of course another problem popped up this time it's the drag link roll issue. Now I'm in need of a new set of tie rod ends. And have a feeling that my death wobble issues have a large part to do with it. The movement is so bad that I am getting a loud popping noise about 3/4 turn to the right at the wheel. Still focusing on getting the truck moved to my residence though so I can focus more on getting it road Worthy before winter comes so that will have to wait until after the move.
@TurboSurge , I'm not sure of the paint code but will find out as I'm planning on fixing some issues with the bed and re spraying a section.

Some pics from this evening.
Got the rear tires swapped out for a set of rollers. Having a good set of 235/85s put on the set I pulled off.
Noting some of the other d60 converted trucks .I'm curious about the front spring pack and thought Ive read in a few places that this isn't the ideal setup for this axle. As well as the odd plastic rubbing strips left in between the leaves .
Found an Id tag on the intercooler . Seems to cross over to a Cummins application, does anyone else run this setup?
And threw in a snapshot of the bum drag link end where the popping noise is coming from. I took it for a quick drive this evening and the death wobble is definitely alot better but man is there a ton of play in the wheel. More fun to be had with that.

i possibly have some very bad news for you. those front springs look like D50 reverse arch springs. in short, they are the wrong springs. when you get a chance post a whole bunch of pics detailing your front suspension and I will try to confirm the ID.

are there a set of these blocks in the back?
they must be 4in high.
if you don't, and you truck doesn't look like it has a "nose high" look, yea.....you still have the D50 springs in.

No blocks on the rear axle whatsoever. I actually love the stance, nice and level. Have wondered about the front springs since I've been reading up more on these trucks. The PO said the truck was used for hauling horses in it's former life and by the looks of it has been setup this way for quite a while.

don't know what to tell you then other than good luck with it.
*IF* you can't cure your deathwobble with tires/shocks/tierods, the lack of spring travel plays a major factor in it. but as always, start with the easy stuff first. while you're at it, put in a steering dampener, it won't cure the problem but you can get it back under control sooner.
