No it was from eBay or Amazon. I got it from a friend who ordered it for one purpose and didn’t need it for anything else. I’m pretty sure they’re all basically the same no matter who’s name is on it.

Just type in ‘USB Borescope’ on eBay or Amazon and pick one that suits you best. Mine only hooks up to my laptop but they have ones for phones and also WiFi.

I've run IDIs so retarded that they were smoking at idle, and ones so advanced it had no power at all, clattering like mad(both extreme cases involved with adjustments to get it right).
Ones with majorly leaking injectors, to the point that it doesn't fire on that cylinder for a while due to the line needing to be refilled...

I've *never* seen glow plugs destroyed like that.

If that was after 10K miles, I could see it being from timing... this is... something else. Something's majorly wrong, that's obvious.

One thought here - OP, can you measure a new glow plug? I'm curious what the glow plug length would be measured from the same spot on the engine(AKA, how much further the allen wrench goes below the glow plug tip before it stops.
I'm going to be borrowing an inspection camera to see if I can take a look at the pre-chamber.

But just a thought, do you think my glow plugs could be screwing too far into the pre chamber and the injector is sitting too close to it.

If the injector was squirting fuel directly on the glow plug, I feel like maybe it would cause the smoke I'm seeing even when I Advance the timing a lot. And perhaps even burn these plugs up.

Why would fuel on the glowplugs when it's running cause smoke?
Glowplugs are only on for starting...

Just wondering. My logic is that it upsets the spray pattern. There was a picture posted above (by David85) of glow plugs. My pic is a close up. The gp that is most similar to mine is the "broken off" one. The cause could be "dripping nozzel".

I'm wondering if the gp is too close, it could have the same effect as a dripping nozzle.

Well, you could take a burned up set, cut the rest of the electrode off, then reinstall and see what happens.

How do you do the "mind blown" emoji? Lol

I'm gonna do that. Simple enough and I can see if she'll behave any different.

Thanks

Update: cutt off the ends of the gp' s like discussed above. There was no change in performance.

Finally received the borescope from Amazon. Bellow are the best pics I could manage.

The first one is through number 3 gp hole. The second one is through number 2 injector.

I'm posting the pics to see if anyone can tell me if it's possible to judge from the pics if the pre-chamber is intact.

I haven't a clue what I'm looking at.

Thanks in advance

Just want to know what I should see in there. If I would otherwise see something else if the pre-chamber wasn't intact.

Honestly I can't make heads or tails of what I'm seeing there. One thing you could try is removing the injector from the same cylinder and shining a light in through the second hole. That might make it easier to see inside the prechamber.

This is down the injector of number 2 cylinder. I used a light but it was just making a very small circle of light on the inside. I think this picture just happened to come out better. I don't know why I couldn't get a better shot earlier.

Hmm...

Good images but unfortunately, I can't see anything abnormal there. What I can see is marked in the attached images.

Great eye... I'm glad there's nothing serious going on. It further narrows things down. I'm still looking for a way to time the girl.

It was suggested by *Macrobb* to look at those precups, and I'm glad I did and really glad someone knows what to look for.

Thanks a bunch, david85
