With 3m Fiberglass filler..... Just say no. Yes it does an okay job, but it sands like concrete.
I don't know what I was thinking but it has developed into quite a learning experience.

I was about to say something about this earlier.
36 it on a long board.
takes lots of practice to work your mud..
thankfully you have that dustless sander now, eay?
but I would be sanding this with a long board.

I've got my long block but I don't have any 36. May need to get some.

don't try it with 80 grit lol all it will do is gum up the paper and **** you off lol
itll knock down pretty easy with 36-40 grit.

I love this stuff, but I only use it when im sealing metal work ive done.

I have a roll of some coarse emery cloth, would be awesome on a 2x4 that's longer than the panel.

The sureform is a rasp type woodworking tool with openings in the cutting surface. It is standard tool with sheetrockers to run over the edge after a cut to remove excess lumps. For "Bondo" you need to use it at the mid cure stage when the filler has the consistency of cheese. It is only for removing the high spots, roughing in. Not a substitute for sanding, but saves a lot of sanding.

Finally got it beat into submission.

Lots of elbow grease later.

It's not finished but I'm in a lot better place than I was. The filler isn't very thick anywhere. It blocked out pretty decent. Still have work to do on the lower section for sure to clean up the body lines. And finish shaping. Live and learn. Hope someone else can learn from my stupidity.

One thing I wonder is, how straight was that panel when it rolled off the assembly line........ You may actually be making it better than factory.

That is entirely possible. You wouldn't believe how much curvature is in that sucker back to front.

I now understand why there was so much filler in the other fender.
