Any chance we could work out some kind of deal where we trade labor on 2 man projects? My buddies are real good for drinkin' beer and flappin' their gums ... useless as helpers.

Or maybe someone can school me: 1 man hood install on a Bronco that's currently WAY too tall.

if you work alone most of the time, do yourself a favor and get yourself a hydraulic wrecker. you'd be amazed what you can now accomplish;Sweet
my favorite type of wrecker is the Vulcan "Super Cradle". As a towtruck, it's a freaking workout, as a yard goat, it's the best :D
with the height you have to lift the hood up to and "hold" steady while getting it bolted on, a hydraulic wrecker and proper rigging, the truck will do it without complaint.

That would be great to have around. I've been looking at +- 25 horse diesel tractors with loaders...close to pullin' the trigger. I figure I can pick a cab or bed up with it and I'd use the hell out of it around here anyway (10 acres to keep up with).

I bought one of these. Can't speak to effectiveness yet but will be able to soon.

I don't remember now but it was a couple weeks to get it. I don't think they stock them. Let me look at my notes. It was on sale for like $109 I think.

get some 2.5" od and some 1.75" od 11ga DOM tubing and build a quickie little 10'+ tall wannabe gantry crane using a come-a-long
I built one 10 years ago, it's handier'n hell for hoods and toppers and boat motors
depending on width and how it's anchored (mine's welded to a couple old rims and has some outriggers) it'll support a fully dressed smallblock ;Sweet
this will let you know if your planned design will support the weight you're looking for

I use my tractors front end loader as my muscle. Removing and installing the bed by myself would have been impossible without it. At my advanced age and debilitated body it is the perfect extension of my arms. It is incredibly useful around the property as well.

I'm in austin currently, but moving to lee county where I can run around without pants and shoot guns at hogs without anyone caring. No neighbors.

Building my evil lair out of concrete, shipping containers and steel building roofing.

I'm definitely down to assist in any way but I can't do a lot of travelling atm.
