So after reading how amazing the updated boot is for reducing in cab noise, I ran out and bought myself one figuring I'd get it installed into my 4BT ZF5 Ranger.

The thing shows up today and I'm trying to figure out everything I need.
See how far the "mounting surface" is from the plastic frame?
Whats the deal here, is the carpet just that fluffy and fills this gap?
Or is the trans tunnel cover recessed somehow?
Just looking at it in my hand it seems like the whole thing would float way above the flooring.

How is it setup in your trucks?

The thickness of the pad and floor covering is what that is for. White part sits flush on the trans tunnel and rubber goes over the carpet.

What is on your floor now?

Thanks! my floor from the bottom up, steel, dynamat, juke padding, vinyl. So it sounds like I need to cut the vinyl and padding back to allow the white part to sit on the dynamat or even the steel if I cut the dynamat back.

I just swapped out my carpet for vynil this weekend. I just slid the part under the vynil and drilled holes through it to mount it. Most noise free way to do it.

got this done the other day. I replaced the inner boot while I was at it, since my old one was torn.
Its funny how it just about takes up my whole trans tunnel on the little ranger.

It really is a nice upgrade noise wise
