1 vote for putting "danger ranger" on a front hood bug screen, backwards.

sound deadening

I started working on the interior, and the sound deadening.

I have everything torn out of the cab, and I bought a bunch of sound deadening, 144sqft to be exact. Based on a bunch of research, i went with this stuff.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00VE157CK/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
The reason is, this is most focused on sound blocking, vs some of the other brands that are trying to be heat blocker / echo reducer / sound blocking all in one

I dowloaded a db meter for my phone and took some before and after measurements. So far I have only done the underside of the hood, and here are the results. I'll post more results as I add more deaden-er to the cab.

anyway, these are the results with a bare cab, and before and after putting a layer of deadening under the hood blanket, ill try to put the pics in order.
we have outside the truck before doing the hood.
inside the truck before doing the hood.
outside the truck after doing the hood.
and inside the truck after doing the hood.

Neat idea... I'll have to do the same thing. 80 dB is a lot.

Hey thanks Calvin, I really appreciate the comment. A 4bt bronco would/will be sweet. I ALMOST went that route myself.

got the roof and the back wall done. Looks like its ready for a moon landing!
Now I just need to get the headliner back in so I can take another measurement.

But hey, the good news is I guess the truck has "premium" speakers. This label fell off when I removed one to get the deaden-er in Hahahah, man if I had know that, I woulda paid double for the truck!:D SCORE!

Well doing the roof and back wall didn't improve my readings. I kind of expected that. Seems like this will help with road noise more than engine noise.

the big win was the floor pan and the trans tunnel. After doing those, and putting the padding and vinyl flooring in, I'm reading 71 @ idle. So it seems like this stuff does work. Although my tests do leave out a bunch of useful info. I never took a reading with the full stock interior installed all by itself, so I'll never know how much of my sound blocking is from the interior, and how much is from the deadening. Oh well, I just thought it would be cool to see how it changed things. I expect it will be even better once the seats are back in, and I still plan to do the doors, and the inner fenders.

On another note, I started putting the dash back in. Its slow going, it seems a year ago when I took the dash out I thought it would be a great idea to put all of the dash bolts and screws into one ziplock back labeled "dash hardware" hahaha oops.. Gonna take me a while to sort this out.LOL

Maiden Voyage!

So, the front alignment is prolly off by a full inch and a half..
I dont have a single gauge hooked up minus the oil pressure gauge ziptied under the hood
And it looks absolutely ridiculous with the lift and the tiny stock tires two of which prolly have about 15psi in them.

But I tell you what, I took her around the block today and HOLY HELL! This is going to be one awesome little pickup!
For now I was just trying to verify that she starts, goes, shifts, turns and stops. and does she EVER! LOVE IT!!! ;Sweet:D;Sweet
