i bought my "reman'd" i/p off dieselcare and performance a few months ago on ebay, well i saved the money for the "moose mod" and sent it away. good this i didn't just throw the pump on my new 6.9 as this is what mel had to say about it!!!!

"My rebuilder called your pump "A basket case". Somebody had really butchered it up pretty well. It actually has a 7.3 head and plungers in a 6.9 body. Some stuff was force fitted together, and my guy had to spend a lot of time filing and machining stuff to get it perfect. Every possible adjustment was way out of whack, and needed calibration."

so stay away from them, the little saved now coulda wound up being alot spent later....:puke:

What for?? I think it is better just buying a core somewhere and send it to Mel then His shop can replace all the worn parts and give You back the same product regardless of what You send in the first place. Sounds like DC IP's are no better than a core except You get to pay more for theirs

EZ, that's why i put this line in there:"from a reputable shop". but it sounds like he rebuilds them to factory specs before he MOOSEFIES them, and 94turbo pump has some different innards dosent it?

One can't beat the price of the Pensacola pumps... At $295.00 and no shipping or core is a price anybody can afford. Then... You send that newly rebuild pump directly from Pensacola Diesel to Mel (remember free shipping and no return core needed) and he has the majic done. Then you pay for shipping to you from Mel and what it costs for the Moose pump upgrades.... Now that my friends is a good deal... First off you are giving Mel a pump thats been rebuilt and it didn't cost you any shipping or core. So whats going to be needed in a newly rebuilt pump is nothing much at all. Mels fee is nowheres near what a brbuilt pump from any of the better rebuilders out there. All you have out of pocket is really the shipping from Mel and his small fee. Just geter dun.......:D

You are right, I don't mean to impose. I was aiming to say that those guys at diesel care are just taking money from a lot of guys trying to save some and end with a product that isn't going to last. The IP shop can get all the parts it will need to make the pump a moose pump, I might be wrong here but I think He can set any pump to flow as much fuel as the other versions. With a rebuildable core You can get them for very cheap so You spend only once and get a pump from a guy known to be reliable.

I have a spare IP. What is the advantage of getting it rebuilt to a Moosepump? It was working OK when I replaced it with a re-man IP when I installed new Injectors in my "90" 7.3. If there is any advantage to doing that, I would put it on the engine I just got to install in my "92", this engine has only 75K miles on it. Maybe I should just PM Mel. Want to get it done before the BG rally.:dunno

What is the cost to "Moosepump" it. It will have a Banks turbo on it .

Wanna bet...and another thing that pulls my short hairs >based on Pensacola's eBay feedback > I paid Pensacola Diesel for their IP however, the IP delivered was drop shipped from someone else! -cuss

PM me for specifics. The price range for Moosepumps tends to be in the $500 to $700 region. The price spread based largely on what is needed to bring the pump up to spec. The most expensive one of late, was the one Jon sent me. That pump was butchered pretty badly and underwent extensive repairs.

All this is why I trade local .After 30 years experience wrenching on everything, a cut rate pump is not the place to cut corners IMO. I know some have had good luck with the cheapies but I hate getting bit in the ass. I am someday going to have another pump rebuilt then send to Mel for mods, if I ever find a job.
