.this crowd would probably be world-beating and trend-setting...
We kind of already are. We keep out 30+ year old trucks going. Most of us still use them a lot of the time, if not daily. Some of us push them way past what the designing engineers ever had in mind. In that regard, we are world beating and trend setting. We use what we have instead of buying new and we are still (usually) way ahead moneywise. Someday these superficial people who think that a new, $80,000+ truck is a required goal, will start to think that we're maybe not so dumb after all. With the price of new trucks, and everything else these days, I like to think that day's not too far off.

And just think, most of the trucks that us the oil burners have started with were base model 6.9na 2wd XL with am/fm and diesel fuel everywhere and air being sucked in every crevice when we started and now you have a 85 with a 7.3 turbo, zf5, 4x4, XLT dually with Bluetooth XM radio and GPS location, etc. Unless you're IDIot, then it's got 6 doors and a jacuzzi........oh yeah........ cupholders.

As for me, I don't see the need for a 4X4 dually. The Bluetooth XM, and the etc. seem like a little too much for me. Again, it's just my preferences.

I have a friend who built a 6 door 1989 F350 single wheel with a 6.9 (in the truck when he bought it), ZF5, 4X4, and a ATS (088 maybe) turbo for his father and brother in law for a hunting guide service. He had the truck ready for paint and then they closed down in 2008. No jacuzzi though.

I started below base model with one that I saved from going to scrap. A 6.9 and t19 was dirt cheap at the time, then had to find the king pin 60. She is about to upgrade back to a turbo 7.3 but is custom job, the original one was lost many moons ago. What is bluetooth xm and GPS, is that a new fangle tape/cd player and map book? Id take the coach cab option with the party light board on the roof, plush captian chairs, front window visor and a steero with cd option.

It seems now that young people expect a parachute or safety net with every jump...

I can make a rope work If there is no water below.

Can't Photoshop a cupholder into a poloroid.

That is because you dont have a hole saw...

Oh an cup holder...

So, while we're on the subject of cupholders, get this! My wife rode with my daughter in my daughter's 88 Mercury cougar........ and you know what??? NO CUP HOLDERS!!! And what's crazy is it's an LS, with a V8! The other curious thing about that car is that it's column shift, seems like it would be center console but oh well. No cupholders, got an ashtray, no beverage...

This is why you don’t buy a Dodge. Cupholders fall down.

This is in my parents other feed truck, the 2011. They have a 2001 as well that is also an automatic. It has the stupid cupholders that slide out of the dash and are only an inch tall. Can’t get a cup to stay in there, they are too short. Don’t have pictures of it right now, as it is at the mechanic shop getting a new transmission…cookoo
