Does anyone have pictures of how they have there e fuel pumps sliced into there lines if mounting to the frame by the tank? Idk if I should run all new rubber lines from top of the tank all the way to the filter on the engine or how I should do this...

I use the original plastic lines. I just cut them, and then slip short pieces of rubber fuel line over the original plastic line with a hose clamp gently tightened. Never had a problem so far. The supply line is 3/8 OD and the return line is 5/16 OD. So they slip perfectly up inside 3/8 and 5/16 rubber fuel line which are sized by ID.

I figured with running a higher pressure pump they might leak or blow off... Was thinking of using a Holley red pump. I really like the idea of the faucet pumps but I'm noticing everyone seems to be moving away from them because of the higher demand drop in pressure and starvation

With a Holley Red, it's probably a good idea to run a regulator with a return back to the tank. You can get too much fuel pressure to the injector pump. That's why the regulator is a good idea.

So would I have to T into the existing return line then or how would I do that... Any advice on this stuff is very appreciated...

Either that or run a dedicated return line from your regulator. These days, the quality of most of the electric pumps seems too be poor. People are still having good luck with the Holley stuff. I'd stick with that. In fact, I plan to use Holley if I ever switch to electric.

I don't remember what thread it is but somewhere @hacked89 has a picture of his fuel pump and filter set up. It's super clean and tidy and there's not a chance of a particle of anything other than diesel fuel getting to his engine. He'll see my reference to him and maybe post a picture.

In my fuel rerouting, I've just spliced the plastic hoses on the truck with the appropriate sized rubber hose. I try to get 3-4in of the rubber over the plastic to hopefully prevent air intrusion.

You should not be running over 5 or 6 psi to the injection pump. Same as a carb setup on a gas engine. Sounds like if the holley red needs a regulator, it's more trouble than it's worth. There should be plenty of pumps out there already setup with a internal regulator set around 6 psi or in that neighborhood.

Hard to beat one of these type pumps. It's just seems too cheap and simple. But they sure do work.

The only way to truly control accurate pressure to the IP is to either use the factory setup or use a fuel system that can do more than factory psi and dial it in with a regulator. There’s a ton of variables if you just throw a low psi pump on it. Luckily, these trucks really don’t care about much and keep on running. You can be way out of spec without too much trouble.

I'm just trying to get this truck running the best it can cause I'm using it as a tow pig for my trailer and drag car. I've put an injection pump on it, new return lines and those plastic pieces, water pump, thermostat, got glow plugs, redoing all the brakes with pads and calipers and lines up front and rear shoes and wheel cylinders.. and the list is still going .. I paid 1500 for it without a bed but the rest of the truck was redone nicely in 2009 and sat ever since... Runs good now though.. oh and I have to find someone that can time it correctly... Gonna be tough because I live in a little poe dunk area
