Not sure what this is but the vacuum line was broke when we fixed the ac. My brother said to wire tie it til I got it fixed to get the ac working. Is this why I have very little to no heat?

That would be for the air recirculation blend door. When extended it pulls air from outside, when retracted, it pulls air from inside the cab

Does the truck get up to operating temp? Thermostat stuck maybe?

if it gets up to operating temp normally, then check the cable actuation of the blend door. When you move the slider on the hot/cold selector, it goes through about a 1ft cable to actuate the blend door, behind the glove box. That cable can get stuck and break the plastic mount on the AC control unit. The control unit comes out in about 3 minutes with some torx screws. You can lube the cable with a motorcycle cable luber tool and fix the mount with zip ties or whatever is handy

The heater hoses will be hot, so is the core. The problem is the blend door is tied in the ac position. The air is blowing over the ac evaporator core and not the heater core. You cold splice in a piece of vacuum line and it will operate correctly (handy when in defrost) or cut the tie wrap and it’s in heat position until you can repair it correctly.

I was supposed to fix that. I'll cut that tie tomorrow. Thanks

That actuator only changes from out side air to recirculate. I ziptied mine and my ac is colder and my heat is hotter. That's not your issue either your thermostat is stuck open or your heatercore is clogged up or your hot cold blend door isn't moving

Yes, no hard feelings at all,but gnathv is very much wrong. That's the recirc door and you will only stand to loose "performance" by cutting those zip ties. The blend door is behind the glove box to the slight left with a cable on top coming in from the right that has a white retainer on it. Move the temp switch back and fourth with the glove box out of the way and see if that cable moves. If not (probable, with what your describing) there could be several causes. The last one i fixed that had no heat had a pen wedged under the blend door stopping it from moving. No idea how it got in there, but once i pulled the heater core cover it was obvious. It also could be a faulty controller end as well. The plastic rotator gears do wear out over time

I checked the cable. It all seems to move fine

If the cable moves fine, but you aren't getting heat, pull the heater core cover off, and put your hand on the core to check for cold spots or any potential obstruction in the airway, as well as to confirm that the blend door isn't broken off of the swing arm.

A temperature gun would help tremendously here to check actual pinpoint temps on the core and hoses and such, as well as the block. Because if the core is for sure getting hot, and the blend door is switching to heat, you've got a magical disappearing heat gremlin in the truck hahahaha

Sorry for the bad information. I thought that was how that vacuum motor operated. Is the temperature dial a cable or vacuum operated? Thank you

The temperature dial is cable. The locational damper system is vaccum though so if you get trouble in that regard itll only blow out the defroster

I'm going slim chance on rodent nest, because where it would have to be located to block heat only airflow would be a super wierd rats nest lol. I think a broken damper arm if the description is true.
